1 Day Entebbe City Tour Uganda Safari Trip – SAFARI OVERVIEW

1 day Entebbe city tour Uganda trip is a full-one day tour of Entebbe city in Uganda that exposes you to the once colonial capital of Uganda. Entebbe City is an attractive tropical, verdant town in central Uganda, located on a magical peninsula in Lake Victoria, the world’s biggest tropical lake, and the primary source of the world’s longest river (the Nile River). The Entebbe city town lies a few hundred meters north of the equator and only 40km south of the modern capital Kampala.

“Entebbe”, in the local Luganda language, means a “seat” and was probably named that because it was the place where the chiefs of Buganda Kingdom sat to adjudicate legal cases. It first became a British colonial administrative and commercial center in 1893 when Sir Gerald Portal, a colonial Commissioner, used it as a base.

Entebbe hosts the only international airport in Uganda. The Entebbe International Airport is best known for the dramatic rescue operation ending on 4th  July 1976, when commandos of the Israel Defense Forces freed over 100 hostages following a plane hijacking by a group of Palestinian militia during Idi Amin’s time. It has been freshly brought to the world with the release of the movie “7 Days in Entebbe”. It was also from this airport that Queen Elizabeth II departed Africa to return to England in 1952 when she learned of her father’s death and that she had become Queen.

This 1 day Entebbe city tour Uganda trip provides a perfect introduction to ‘Pearl of Africa. You visit the beautiful Entebbe Botanical Gardens, established over 100 years ago. You enjoy a leisurely walking tour of the gardens with sights of tropical trees, plants, butterflies, monkeys, and birds in abundance along with Lake Victoria.

You continue to Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC), a world-class animal refuge along Lake Victoria shoreline and a champion in teaching conservation to the many school children and adults who visit it. Animal species here include Lion, Leopard, Tiger, Chimpanzee, African Elephants, Cape Buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, Common eland, African rock python, Nile Crocodiles, and several others along with numerous bird species including Common ostrich, peafowl, and African grey parrot. Most of the animals were rescued from accidents or poachers and others were brought there for educational purposes.

This amazing 1 day Entebbe city tour ends at Imperial Resort Beach on the beautiful shore of the majestic Lake Victoria, adjacent to a beautiful five-star hotel.
