1 Day Rwanda Gorilla Self Drive Safari Detailed itinerary Safari
You wake up early in the morning and depart from your place of stay in Kigali at around 5am to embark on the transfer to Volcanoes National Park in the north west of Rwanda 116km about 2 ½ hours’ drive. You can opt to leave your place when you have taken breakfast or pack it and have along the drive. The impressive sights of the hilly Rwandan side accompany you along the drive as you connect from the dark to dawn. The local people are viewed embarking on their daily routine including their farmlands and crop gardens. Arrive in Ruhengeri and Kinigi the headquarters for the Volcanoes National Park to catch up with briefing at 8am. You are allocated the gorilla family to track and attend to the briefing from the park rangers after which you will connect to the respective trail head to embark on the active trek. The trek in search of the gorillas goes beyond the gorillas. You explore the amazing slopes of the Volcanoes which at times may be challenging, the impressive flora and counts of birds which include the Albertine endemics. The eventual encounter with the gorillas involves one full hour of direct viewing as they forage and socialize, the young gorillas playing among other interesting aspects. You enjoy the photogenic moments and retreat from the activity when your time is done. Connect to the starting point and transfer back to Kigali arriving in the evening to mark the end of the tour.
