You reach your lodge/camp in time for lunch.  After lunch, have some time to relax and then you are off on your first game drive of the 11 days Tanzania safari tour!

Learn more about this wonderful park as you search for wildlife. Tarangire is an incredibly beautiful park, renowned for its exclusivity away from the crowds and huge elephant herds. It is named after the Tarangire River which provides the only permanent water for wildlife. Its grassy plains are dotted with towering baobabs – the bizarre ‘upside-down trees’.

Tarangire hosts some of Tanzania’s greatest concentrations of wildlife, especially during the dry season of June to September when vast herds of elephants, wildebeest, hartebeest, zebra, giraffe, Buffalo, Gazelles, and impala, file in large numbers to the banks of the river. Predators like lions, hyenas, and leopards are drawn like a magnet to this buffet of concentrated prey.

Its weather patterns, fauna, and flora are believed to have changed very little for as long as a million years.

It boasts the highest density of large predators, including lions, leopards, hyenas, and cheetahs, in the world! The park is renowned for its annual Great Migration of up to two million animals, an iconic and dramatic scene in wildlife documentaries for decades, and a true bucket-list experience. On arrival, enjoy a game drive as you continue to your lodge or camp in central Serengeti.

Have a packed lunch en route, so as to not cut into your game viewing time in this part of the Serengeti. The area forms part of “the Great Migration” and is home to the Seronera River Valley one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Cats (lions, leopards, and cheetahs) on thrilling hunts.
