Our next destination is Queen Elizabeth National Park which is home to over 96 mammal species including tree climbing and savannah lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards, hippos, chimpanzees,s and over 610 bird species. Here we will enjoy a game drive and a scenic boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel to view some of the highest concentrations of hippos in the world.
Continuing on our journey we reach Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where we will embark on a jungle trek in search of gentle giants of the forests, Mountain gorillas. This close-up encounter is arguably one of the most sensational wildlife watching experiences Africa has to offer. Bwindi is home to around half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, 120 other mammal species, and 351 bird species.

Day 1: Arrive in Uganda via Entebbe International Airport & transfer to the Hotel.
Your fantastic 11 days Uganda safari tour starts as soon as you touch down at the Entebbe International Airport. You will be met by our company representative who will help you load your bags into our comfortable 4×4, air conditioned safari vehicle before you transfer to the hotel located nearby. Entebbe is an attractive tropical, verdant town on the shores of gorgeous Lake Victoria (the world’s second largest fresh water lake) that served as the capital city of Uganda during the early years of the British protectorate.
While at your hotel in Entebbe, you can have a briefing about the entire trip but if you’re tired, you can opt to have it the following day over breakfast. After you’ve comfortably settled into the hotel, this closes the first day of your ultimate 11 days Uganda safari tour.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park with a visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
After breakfast at 6.30 am at your hotel in Entebbe, we will embark on a 311km (5 hours) drive to Murchison Falls National Park. We will drive through the impressive flat stretches of Nakasongola district before making a detour to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for our first Big Five experience where we will have 2-hours Rhino tracking encounter on foot. After this adventurous activity, we will settle for lunch at Kabalega dinner and continue our journey to Murchison Falls National Park arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Murchison Falls National Park covers an area of 3,840km2. As the largest national park in Uganda, Murchison has almost all major African animals with a checklist of 76 plus mammal species. It is home to the world’s largest population of the endangered Rothschild’s giraffes. This park is also a great birding destination hosting over 451 bird species including the shoebills, the most sought-after of all African birds.
But it is the River Nile (the longest river in the world) – dividing the park into northern and southern halves – that gives rise to the park’s greatest draw card, the Murchison Falls. Here at Murchison Falls, you can hear, see, and feel the power of Nature as the historic River Nile is squeezed into a 7 meters wide cleft in the rift valley escarpment before dropping down 45 meters and then continues its epic 6,650 km journey through the deserts of Sudan and Egypt to the Mediterranean Sea.

Day 3: Morning game drive, an afternoon Nile launch cruise & hike to the top of Murchison falls.
After an early morning breakfast at around 7.00 am, we will set off on our first real game drive of this11 Days Uganda safari tour in the Northern sector of Murchison Falls National Park. We will enjoy game viewing in open animal filled savannah of this sector and photography of Rothschild’s giraffes, Elephants, Buffalos, Waterbucks, Oribis, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Uganda kobs, if you are lucky lions and leopards. You will also see a variety of bird species.
Retreat from the activity and return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch after which you gather at Paraa jetty for afternoon 3-hour boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. While on this launch trip, you will cruise slowly along the historic Nile River, fringed by borassus palms, acacia woodland and mahogany stands before finally docking in a small bay a few hundred meters away from the roaring falls. Game viewing is excellent along the way. Expect to see hippos in their hundreds, along with some of Africa’s largest surviving Nile Crocodiles, herds of Buffalos, Giraffe, Waterbucks, Kobs and Elephants playing in water a few meters from the launch.
Birdlife is reliably stunning; African fish eagles, Goliath heron, Saddle-bellied stork, African jacana, Pied and malachite kingfishers, African skimmer, Piapiac and the top avian prize is of course the Shoebill. Upon arriving on the bottom of the falls, you will embark on the hike to the top of the falls. The hike is a strenuous one but the thrill on reaching at top of this world’s most powerful waterfall is unforgettable. Miss it only if you must! Day 4: Transfer from Murchison Falls National Park to Hoima & visit the Kibiro Salt mines.
After a leisurely breakfast at around 8.00am, we will leave the Murchison Falls National Park behind and embark on a very scenic drive to Hoima with an enroute stop at Kibiro Salt Gardens to encounter the heritage of this historic site. The Kibiro Salt Gardens has supported the livelihoods of the surrounding community dating far back to 900 years ago far before the coming of Europeans.
The locals extract fine salt which they then exchange with the other communities for food and other items. The work of salt extraction at this site has for long been a dominant of female. The process of extracting is rather long and technical than the ordinary but it is amazing to see how the indigenous knowledge is put into use to have a product out well made.
Accessing the site exposes you to walking on steep and challenging landscapes with narrow paths that can only be accessed by foot. Retreat from the encounter and transfer to Hoima arriving in the afternoon for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Day 5: Drive to Kibale National Park, hike to the Amabere Caves & Fort Portal Crater field.
At around 7.00am after breakfast, we will embark on a 240km (4-5 hours) drive to Fort Portal Area passing through the impressive countryside landscapes of Kagadi and Kyenjojo that are dotted with lush green, rural homesteads and farmlands. Upon arriving in Fort Portal town, you settle for a special lunch in one of best restaurants in the town then travel to the legendary Amabere Caves.
The Amabere Cave is named after the live stalactite formation-Amabeere ga Nyinamwiru, literally translates as Breast of Nyinamwiru and resembles the twin breasts of a woman. The woman in question is Nyinamwiru, a legendary princess who is said to have been so beautiful that no man could leave her alone. When Nyinamwiru father King Bukuku became weary of receiving marital requests from unsuitable suitors, he took the extreme measure of cutting off his daughter’s breasts in order to make her less attractive. But even this proved to be insufficient to deter Nyinamwiru many admirers, so the king hid her away in the cave now known as Amabere. Here, she was discovered by the Batembuzi King Isaza, who impregnated her with a son.
Because Nyinamwiru lacked breasts, she stayed on in the cave with her baby, feeding him on the cloudy limestone ‘milk’ that drips from its stalactites The child nurtured by the stalactite formation grew up and became king Ndahura, founder of the Bachwezi dynasty that ruled over the Bunyoro Kitara Empire centuries ago. After exploring this legendary cave, you will embark on the hike to the Fort Portal Crater Lake field where you traverse the challenging slopes of Kyeganywa hill surrounded by a range of crater lakes and crater hollows presenting one of the beautiful scenic sites in Uganda. Retreat from the chosen activity and transfer to Kibale National Park for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale, Bigodi Swamp Walk & transfer to Queen Elizabeth Park.
This day will begin with an early breakfast at around 7.00 am before heading out to Kanyanchu Visitor Center to join other chimpanzee trackers. The adventure will start at 8.00 am with a briefing from an expert ranger who will be your guide through the activity detailing the conduct of the exercise. After this you will be allocated a chimpanzee community to track and then head to the forest for a 2-3 hours trek in search of this man’s closest living relative.
Pushing through the tangled undergrowth, you’ll hike in the direction of where these great apes of Africa were last seen, all the time listening for their calls in the trees above. You’ll see several of 12 other primate species in the park such as Black-and-white colobus, Blue monkeys, Red-tailed monkeys, Uganda red colobus and Grey-cheeked mangabeys plus many of the park’s 375 bird species as you search for the chimps.
Finally you approach the common chimpanzees which have been fully habituated and thus offering you an opportunity to draw closer to them and take pictures. Viewing them as they feast on figs, swinging in trees, socializing, patrolling, mating and making pant hooting calls will lure you into unforgettable excitement. You have one hour availed to you to encounter these precious apes and you are free to take as many photos as you can. After your chimpanzee we will transfer to Bigodi wetland Sanctuary a famous successful community tourism initiative in the whole of Uganda and presents a magical swamp walk. Retreat from the encounter and embark on the transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park 157km about 2 – 3 hours’ drive with the views of the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

After breakfast at around 6.30 am, we will embark on a drive to the rolling plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The 1978 km2 Queen Elizabeth is one of the most beautiful national parks protecting a fabulously diverse landscape: rolling grasslands, shady, humid forests, sparkling lakes and fertile wetlands which make it the ideal habitat for classic big game, ten primate species including chimpanzees and over 600 species of birds.
On this day of our 10 days Uganda wildlife safari, we will undertake a morning game drive to the Kasenyi plains during which you will expect to see Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Uganda kobs, Warthogs, Waterbucks, Bushbucks and Hippos. The activity tends to last 3-hours after which you will return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch.
In the afternoon, we will drive to Mweya Jetty for a 2-hour boat trip on the 40 Kazinga Channel which connects Lakes George and Edward on which you will view some highest concentration of hippos in the world. You will also be fascinated by the large numbers of crocodiles, and Elephants, buffalos on the shore along with numerous waterbirds including Saddle bellied stork, Pink-backed pelicans, Black-headed gonolek, Yellow-billed stork, White-billed stork, African jacana, African fish eagle and White-faced Whistling duck. Retreat from that and do a game drive along the channel track as you connect to the lodge for overnight.

Day 8: Game Drive in Ishasha Sector & Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Wake up early to have your breakfast at around 6.30am, check out and embark on the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the south of Queen Elizabeth Park. You undertake a game drive in Ishasha sector to look for tree climbing lions, Elephants, Caped buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, Warthogs among others. Continue on the drive to Bwindi – the impenetrable forest for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a Natural World Heritage Site that is home almost half the world’s mountain gorillas. Apart from the Mountain gorillas, there over 120 mammal species including 11 species of other non-primates. There are tool-wielding chimpanzees in the forest, black-and-white colobus, Ugandan red colobus, red-tailed and blue monkeys, golden monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, vervets and vulnerable L’Hoest’s monkeys. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest ecosystem also offers a chance to spot 351bird species, including 23 of the 24 Albertine Rift endemics.

Day 9: Do Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi National Park & Travel to Lake Bunyonyi for Relaxation.
We will get up fairly early this morning, but it will be worth it! We will have breakfast and transfer to the respective park headquarter to get briefed and at 8:00am after which you embark on the Uganda gorilla trek along the designated trails within the impenetrable forest in search the gentle mountain gorillas−which are among Africa’s most famous animals.
For many, this is a once-in-a-lifetime, spiritual experience with these sentient great apes. Once on the verge of extinction, mountain gorilla numbers have been steadily increasing in the last decade, with the most recent estimate putting the number of wild mountain gorillas at over 1,063 individuals. Over 459 of these individuals are found in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, making it one of the population’s strongholds. Gorilla trekking might take you 2 – 8 hours depending on the gorilla movement. The trek for these great apes is tiresome but very well rewarded by meeting, spending time with and photographing these great gorillas as you look straight into their inviting brown expressive eyes, this is a life time thrill of a wild life adventure only Africa can offer you.
After your one hour with the gorillas, return to the starting point and transfer to the starting point to embark on the transfer to Lake Bunyonyi driving through fascinating Kigezi Highlands which locals apply terracing method to cultivate their slopes deriving impressive scenic landscape. You arrive at Lake Bunyonyi in the afternoon for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and enjoy an evening drive.
After an early morning breakfast at around 7.00am, we will leave Lake Bunyonyi and embark on 99km (4 hours) drive to Lake Mburo National Park. The enroute scenic sights are interesting and a lunch stop will be made at Igongo Cultural Centre restaurant for Uganda Cuisine. An optional to the cultural museum tour can be arranged.
We will then proceed to Lake Mburo Park for an exciting afternoon game drive. The 370km2 savannah park is the only place in southwestern Uganda to see Zebras and the only park in the country with impalas. You will also look for elands, topis, waterbucks, Rothschild’s giraffes, among others along the beautiful views of the savannah at the sunset. Retreat from the activity for relaxation dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Enjoy a morning game walking safari in Mburo and transfer to Kampala.
After breakfast at around 7.00 am, engage in a rewarding game walking safari on the moist savannah stretches of Lake Mburo National Park during which we will encounter several wild African savannah animals such as Impala, Burchell’s Zebra, Rothschild giraffes, Topis, Warthogs, waterbucks, bushbucks, Klipspringer, elands, Cape Buffaloes among others.
The Park is also home to a range of bird species (350) including the Red-faced Barbet, African finfoot, African scops owl, Blue-breasted kingfisher, Grey-crowned cranes, Saddle-billed Stork, Brown-chested lapwing, African-wattled lapwing, African Fish Eagle, Carruthers’s cisticola, Greater painted-snip, Yellow-rumped tinkerbird, Blue-headed coucal, Southern ground hornbill, Black-collared barbets, Back-throated barbets, Green-capped eremomela, and Bare-faced go-away bird.
Retreat from the activity for lunch and then continue on our journey with another stop at the Uganda Equator crossing at Kayabwe for magical photo shoots where one leg can be placed in north sphere and the other remains in the south. It also an impressive site for purchasing memorabilia to take back home as a remembrance for this safari in Uganda. From here we will drive to Kampala and this marks the end of our exciting 11 days Uganda safari tour.
