12 Days Madagascar Tour Safari East to West – DETAILED SAFARI ITINERARY.

Day 1 of the 12 Days Madagascar Tour Safari: Arrive at Ivato International Airport & transfer to the hotel.

Arrive at Ivato International Airport – the main gateway to Madagascar, meet our representative and transfer to the Airport.

Day 2 of the 12 Days Madagascar Tour Safari: Transfer from Antananarivo City & transfer to Andasibe National Park.

Depart from Antananarivo City and transfer to Andasibe. You enjoy a walk within Mitsinjo private reserve – a local community owned exciting site.  In the evening, take up a brief night walk targeting nocturnal active animals.

Day 3 of the 12 Days Madagascar Tour Safari:  Explore Andasibe National Park.

Transfer on a rough road to Mantadia Reserve – the home to a range of species including Lemurs, Chameleons, and Birds. You enjoy a 4-hour hike through the rainforest of Mantadia National Park.  You gain chances of exploring Black-and-white ruffed lemurs, Diademed sifaka, the ground rollers, and the insectivorous tenrecs.  In the afternoon, you enjoy a close look at lemurs’ Island.

 

Day 4 of the 12 Days Madagascar Tour Safari:   Andasibe National Park – Manambato – Ankanin’nyNofy.

 

 

 

 

Undertake the hike to explore the Analamazaotra Nature Reserve (another part of Périnet) where you gain great chances of viewing the largest lemurs called “Indri indri” along with other animal species and medicinal plants.  Proceed to the east following the evergreen landscapes to Lake Rasoabe where you will take up a boat transfer to Palmarium Reserve.

 

 

 

Day 5 of the 12 Days Madagascar Tour Safari: Explore the Palmarium private reserve.

 

The day is dedicated to visiting the Palmarium Private Reserve gaining opportunity of exploring the other lemur species along with endemic wildlife species and flora. Take up the nocturnal walk to explore the Aye-Aye Lemurs in the neighborhood of Palmarium – a unique species of rare Lemurs.

Day 6 of the 12 Days Madagascar Tour Safari:  Ankanin’ny Nofy – Manambato – Antananarivo. Visit Peyrieras’ reptile farm en route.

Enjoy a leisure breakfast at Palmarium after which you proceed to Antananarivo City. You enjoy the sights of Peyrieras’ reptile farm en route.

Day 7 of the 12 Days Madagascar Tour Safari:  Transfer from Antananarivo to Morondava – Kirindy.                     

Depart by flight to Morondava to the Midwest coast of Madagascar famous for its Baobabs. Proceed to the north along the red road to Kirindy Reserve through the Baobab forest and savannah.  The reserve is home to the famous Fossa predator along with birds, reptiles, and a range of lemur species.

 

 

 

 

Day 8 of the 12 Days Madagascar Tour Safari: Kirindy – Bekopaka.

 

Follow the off-road northwards heading to Belo traversing the Baobab forest and Sakalava villages. Drive through Belo Sur Tsiribihina, a quiet fishers’ village in a delta by the Mozambique Channel before proceeding to Bekopaka where Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park featuring one of the World’s most unusual rock formations called the Tsingy.

 

Day 9 of the 12 Days Madagascar Tour Safari: Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park – a UNESCO world heritage site. 

The Tsingy is like a gigantic limestone cathedral and constitutes a dense network of sharp limestone blocks. This rock formation is found in only two places in Madagascar. Several species of succulent plants grow on the Tsingy. This National Park also shelters 13 species of Lemurs, among them the Red Fronted Brown lemur, Decken’sSifaka, the Grey Mouse Lemur, the Wooly Lemur, the VerrauxiSifaka – mammals like the Narrow-striped Mongoose, Fossa. 94 species of birds are also found here, like the endemic Madagascar Fish Eagle, Giant Couas and Vangas. 22 species of amphibians and 66 of reptiles are also registered here. The Big Tsingy is scheduled in the morning and the Petits Tsingy in the afternoon.

Day 10 of the 12 Days Madagascar Tour Safari: Bekopaka – Morondava & explore the Baobab Avenue.

You will then head back to Belo surTsiribihina and visit the market place of the village. After crossing the Tsiribihina River again on a motorboat, you will continue northwards to enjoy the sunset at the Baobab Avenue before reaching the coastal town of Morondava.

Day 11 of the 12 Days Madagascar Tour Safari:  Morondava – Antananarivo.

At dawn, drive back to Baobab Avenue to enjoy the magical lights and views of the area. Then, transfer to the airport and fly back to the capital city of Antananarivo. Spend the afternoon at leisure.

Day 12 of the 12 Days Madagascar Tour Safari:  City tour & departure.

Depending on the departure time, you take up an exciting city tour visiting the Queen’s Palace, the former palace of the Prime Minister Rainilaiarivony noted to have married the three Queens and the handicraft market at Digue before drop off at the Airport.
