12 Days Uganda Safari Tour – SAFARI DETAIL
Day 1: Arrive in Uganda at the Entebbe International Airport & transfer to your hotel
Welcome to Uganda! Upon landing at Entebbe International Aiport, you will be warmly received by our Prime safaris guide who will help load the bags into our comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle before we set off for our lodge situated nearby for on this day one of the 12 Days Uganda Safari Tour Gorilla Trekking and Wildlife. It was from the airport you just landed at that Queen Elizabeth II departed Africa to return to England in 1952, when she learned of her father’s death and that she had become Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. Entebbe airport was also the scene of a famous hostage situation and rescue operation that ended on 4 July 1976.
Depending on your time of arrival there might be a chance for an optional excursion to one or more of the nearby attractions. These include the extensive National Botanical Gardens, the National Zoo and the Uganda Reptiles Village. The National Botanical Gardens is a great place to start our trip lists, with some cool birds (Black-and-white-casqued Hornbill, Red-headed Lovebird, Double-toothed Barbet, Grey Parrot, White-throated Bee-eater, Great Blue Turaco, Palm-nut Vulture, Orange Weaver and Black-headed Gonolek) and primates (Angola Colobus, Vervet and Red-tailed Monkey).
Highlight of the day: Touch down in the Pearl of Africa at Entebbe international airport with the breathtaking waters of Lake Victoria and Entebbe town.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
After having your breakfast at the hotel at 6:30am, your prime safari guide that has been assigned to you will pick you up from your hotel using any of our comfortable 4×4 safari cars and then you will embark on this 8 -9 hour journey covering about 520km, you will enjoy exciting road stops at Mpambire drum center and have an encounter with local artists as they manufacture a wide variety of local musical instruments such as the drums, African chairs.
Your next stop will be done at the Equator which is 77km from Kampala where you get to have an equator experience on how to differentiate the Northern from the Southern hemispheres and also have a photo moment.
From here you will proceed with the journey to Igongo cultural center where you will enjoy a locally inspired lunch buffet at the Igongo country hotel.
Continue with your journey to Bwindi passing through the beautiful Mirama hills that have been tamed by locals who are growing bananas and other foods stuffs on the slopes of these hills. Along the way lookout for sightings of local people carrying riding bicycles loaded with farm produces such bananas.
A final stop will be made at the Great Lakes Museum in Rwahi where you get to encounter the African tree of life. This tree is a made of different sculptures that depict the different forms of life of Africans. You can take a moment to pose for photos before you continue with the rest of your journey to the lodge in Bwindi National Park widing up this day of the 12 Days Uganda Safari Tour Gorilla Trekking and Wildlife.
Highlight of the day: You will make a stop at the Ugandan Equator crossing at Kayabwe, where you can stand with one leg in the Northern hemisphere while the other remains in the Southern! Day 3: Do gorilla trekking & have Batwa / Bakiga Community tour
On this day, you will have an early morning breakfast served at 6:30am comprising of a wide assortment of bites ranging from truly delicious tropical organic fruits and confectionaries to give an energy boost for the gorilla trekking in Bwindi experience ahead of you where you get to meet one of the gorilla families in this park for a full hour.
Depart from the lodge with your packed lunch and gather at the park center where you will be welcomed by the park sector warden who will take you through the history of gorilla conservation in this particular park sector and Bwindi park in general. While here still you get to have a miniature cultural performance from the local Batwa people who will showcase their musical skills to you.
With your armed ranger in the lead, embark on a trek, searching for your allocated gorilla family. You will be granted a full hour with these magical beings to watch them as they go about their daily lives and if you’re lucky you might get to see the young gorillas break the 7-meter rule as they get closure to you to have you incorporated in their games. After the full hour contact with these gorillas transfer back to the park center where you get awarded a Gorilla tracking certificate for your tracking efforts. You will return to your lodge and prepare for an evening tour through the community on this day of the 12 Days Uganda Safari Tour Gorilla Trekking and Wildlife.
Highlight of the day: The trek for these great apes is tiresome as the forest can be quite wet and the going fairly steep. But trust us, the bit of exercise will be very well rewarded by meeting, watching, spending time with and photographing these incredible creatures as you look straight into their inviting, brown, expressive eyes. Day 4: Transfer from Bwindi to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha.
We will start with an early breakfast and then we will pack our bags and check out. We will depart “Bwindi” and head even further north to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Composed of 321 km2 (124 sq mi) of both montane and lowland rainforest, and accessible only on foot due to the improbable steepness, Bwindi was gazetted as a National Park in 1991 and declared a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site in 1994. It is an amazing piece of land; it survived the last Ice Age (about 15,000 years ago) when most other forests in Africa disappeared. In the local language (Lukiga), Bwindi actually means ‘impenetrable.’
We will undertake a game drive in the Ishasha sector in the Rukungiri District in search of the famous tree climbing Lions that tend to lie on fig tree branches scanning the plains for prey. This is also the only area in the park to see Tsessebe (Topi subspecies) and Sitatunga.
After this search for the tree climbing lions, you will proceed with the remaining part of your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park which ends with your arrival to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Highlight of the day: Encountering the Tree climbing lions of Ishasha hanging up and sleeping in the big fig and acacia trees staring at their prey is a must do activity on this day of the 12 Days Uganda Safari Tour Gorilla Trekking and Wildlife.

Day 5: Enjoy wild game viewing and afternoon Kazinga Channel boat cruise
We start our day with an early breakfast at the camp, and then we are off to the park again on this 5th day of the 12 Days Uganda Safari Tour Gorilla Trekking and Wildlife.
Our game drive this morning through the Kasenyi Plains will give us a chance to tick some impressive African big game species, including African Elephant, African Buffalo, Kob, Bushbuck, Hippopotamus, Forest Hog, Common Warthog, Leopard and various smaller creatures not forgetting the avian life here that may include African Hobby, Rüppell’s Vulture, Bateleur, Brown Snake Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, Grey Kestrel, African Finfoot, African Skimmer, Black bee-eater, Caspian Plover, Grey-winged Robin-chat, Palm-nut Vulture, Papyrus Gonolek, White-backed Night Heron and Yellow-throated Cuckoo, along with many others. After our game drive we will return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch.
In the afternoon, we have another fantastic activity planned! We will gather at the Mweya jetty for an afternoon boat cruise starting at 2pm. During this boat cruise, you have the opportunity to sail on the tranquil but turbid waters of the Kazinga channel a 42 km long channel that connects Lake George to Lake Edward. This cruise offers you an opportunity to see at close range the highest concentration of Hippos over to 1000 individuals and Nile crocodiles that are seen basking along the shores of the channel.
After the boat cruise we will do a short game drive along the channel track as we head back to the lodge. We will relax and have dinner, chatting about trips we would all like to do in the future to exotic places on the planet.
Highlight of the day: The 45 km boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel is surely an Oasis of fascinating species inhabiting the park, you cruise just meters from hundreds of enormous hippos and buffalos while elephants linger on the shoreline.

Day 6: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. Hike the Ndali Kasenda Crater field commonly known as the top of the world
The 6th day of the 12 Days Uganda Safari Tour Gorilla Trekking and Wildlife is a relaxed one, you will wake up at 7:30am and listen to the birds as they twitter melodiously to the dawn of the new day. After having breakfast, you will embark on the transfer to Kibale National Park driving along the Rwenzori Mountains 157km about 2 – 3 hours’ drive.
Upon arrival in Kibale Area, you embark on the hike to Ndali Kasenda Crater Lake field to gain impressive views of the crater lakes including Lake Nyabikere and Nyinabulitwa before retiring to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay:

Day 7: Do Chimpanzee trekking and afternoon Bigodi wetland walk
The morning of this day kicks off with an amazing breakfast that is aimed at energizing you for the thrilling chimpanzee trek that’s ahead of you. You will be transferred on this day of the 12 Days Uganda Safari Tour, Gorilla Trekking and Wildlife by your prime guide to the park center in Kanyanchu where you get to go through a short briefing about the entire chimpanzee trekking experience.
From here led by apark ranger, embark on primate walk as you search for these great humans of the wild the chimpanzees and the highlight of the day will be when you get to meet these exciting creatures you will be wowed by how much in common we do have with these great apes as they laugh, hug and kiss just like humans do and also look after the young ones. Besides the chimpanzees, you should also not miss out on the sightings of several other primates that call this forest their home and these include the black and white colobus monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, Grey monkeys.
After the chimpanzee encounter which lasts an hour of pure enjoyment return to the park center where your trekking efforts are rewarded with a trekking certificate. From here, have a lunch break then transfer to Bigodi community where you get to engage in a community encounter with the locals and see how they live their daily lives, watch them or even engage in some of their days to day activities such coffee picking, local brew making and as you undertake this community thriller, you will take part in the coffee-making process right from planting process, harvesting red ripe coffee berries, sun drying process, then coffee pounding and finally making your own cup of coffee that is freshly brewed from the coffee that’s grown by these locals.
After this exciting cultural mash up you will have had, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. Whole day drive
We will start the 8th day of the 12 Days Uganda Safari Tour Gorilla Trekking and Wildlife with an early breakfast, and then pack our bags and check out after enjoying the wonderful time doing Chimpanzee tracking and transfer from Kibale National park to Murchison Falls Park.
This drive takes you through numerous villages giving you an insight into how ordinary Ugandans live, look out for sightings of men and women engaging in economic activities such as gardening, you might also encounter women carrying their little one’s strapping them behind their backs. This drive takes about 7-8 hours covering a distance of about 320km.
You will have a lunch break in Masindi town before you finally proceed to Murchison Falls National park.
Highlight of the day: Driving through Ugandan rural country sight, historical ancient town of Masindi and the Albertine Rift Valley where the bulky Bunyoro escarpment merges into the vast plains of Acholi land leading you to the ‘Kew Gardens and the zoo combined on an unlimited scale’.

This game drive is carried out in the Northern sector of Murchison falls and while at it, you should warm up for thrilling encounters with a variety of wild animals which include giraffes, Elephants, cape buffaloes, Jackson hartebeests and you can also encounter the predators of Murchison falls including lions and leopards as they take a stroll in the savanna plains of Murchison falls park or even on a hunting escapade.
If you love birds, then Murchison falls National Park is a place to be because it is home to a whopping count of 450 bird species and these include the Abyssinian ground hornbills, white thighed hornbills, Black-bellied bustards, open bellied stocks and a wide variety of eagles such as the sooty eagle. After traversing the savanna landscape of Murchison falls, take a break to have lunch then transfer to the Paraa jetty for a thrilling boat cruise over the tranquil but turbid waters of the Victorian Nile as you head towards the bottom of the thunder roaring Murchison falls.
During this boat cruise, you will encounter a wide range of water-dwelling wildlife species that reside in this tropical paradise such as the prehistoric Nile crocodiles that you will spot as they sunbathe on the showers of this river, numerous hippos that are dotted all over this river.
After the boat cruise, you will embark on a thrilling hike to the top of Murchison falls where you will encounter the Nile River squeezing itself to pass through a less than seven meter ravine before falling 43m below to what has been termed as the Devils Cauldron forming a plume of Spray marked by thunderous roar and a trademark rainbow. The top of the falls is a good site for photography. You will return to the lodge to wind up this day of the 12 Days Uganda Safari Tour Gorilla Trekking and Wildlife , dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 10: Undertake a morning Nile Delta boat cruise safari.
On this 10th day of the 12 Days Uganda Safari Tour Gorilla Trekking and Wildlife, you will undertake a morning private Nile Delta boat cruise safari on the mighty River Nile.
The day begins early in the morning at 6:00am in order to be ready for 7:00am set off to the delta point. The Victoria Nile delta, a 20km voyage downstream from Paraa, is home to rare wetland birds including shoebill and papyrus endemic species, one of the best sporting sites in Uganda, the shoebill is definitely one of the highlights for every bird watcher coming to Uganda and the delta boat trip offers the best chances of seeing this majestic bird. The large bird with its prehistoric look fascinates many bird lovers. These solitary birds with the massive shoebill stork can grow up to 150 cm and weigh up to 14 pounds. You also stand a chance of seeing lots of different animals including elephants and great chances of seeing the elusive leopards resting up in the trees after their busy night schedules.
You later connect with your Prime safari guide and transfer back to the lodge for relaxation in the afternoon.
Highlight of the day: Sighting of the Balaeniceps rex (Shoebill stock) in the prime wetland thick marshes of papyrus, water lilies and other wetland grasses of the Nile River, Uganda’s most sought after bird by birding tourists as well as by nature lovers. The wetland also hosts huge flocks of Palearctic migrants every year from October to March.

Day 11: Visit the top of the falls & transfer to Jinja. Make a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary en route
After breakfast you will commence on an 8-9 hours’ journey covering 311km. This road trip gives you a glimpse into the life of ordinary Ugandans which you meet along the way while they engage in activities such as tilling their gardens, men and women riding bicycles loaded with usual farm produce heading towards next local markets to trade.
This road adventure comes with an exciting en route road stop and the first one comes at the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary in Nakasongola, where you will engage in a rhino trekking session. This not only gives you a chance to meet one of the 5 big five Africa game which are only found in this sanctuary in Uganda but also allows you to stretch your body after this 3-4 hour ride from Murchison falls Park.
After rhino trekking, settle in for lunch at Kabalega Dinners before you make your way Kampala. Another exciting stop is made at a roadside market in Kasana Luwero which allows you to take your taste buds on a culinary journey as you taste some Uganda’s purely organic tropical fruits that will tantalize your taste buds due to their absolute sweetness. Proceed with the rest of your journey to Jinja which comes to an end for this day of the 12 Days Uganda Safari Tour Gorilla Trekking and Wildlife, with your arrival at the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 12: Transfer to Jinja for the Source of the Nile Adventure
On this day, you will transfer to Jinja for the source of the Nile exploration. We head straight to the source of the Nile-a quiet beautiful place, filled with palm trees, fantastic tropical plants and as you walk down the steps toward the Nile you can smell of the flowers there. As you stand on the Nile, you will hear the gurgling water; watch native fishermen throw their nets in the longest river in Africa- At the source of the Nile you will take a short boat ride for scenic viewing .
You will engage in the Jinja town drive which includes viewing of the old colonial buildings, the old railway station, diesel locomotives, golf course, the Hindu temple and the Memorial gardens where Mahat Magandi’s ashes were poured Jinja town once the industrial capital of Uganda but today a residential town filled with many old Indian styled structures in which many Indians lived during the pre-Amin area, some of whom have returned to reclaim their old properties.
You will head out for lunch in the middle of the town at one of the beautiful restaurants and after you proceed to Mabira Forest where you will enjoy a nature walk. Mabira forest has over 300 species of birds and over 218 of butterflies. Never the less you shall find different types of monkey and other mammals in this Forest while walking underneath this canopy of an African tropical Rainforest. You will continue to drive through the famous towns like Lugazi famous for tea and sugarcane plantations and Namawojolo where you can enjoy optional stop over at the famous roadside fast food dispenser of fruits & roadside chicken for photos or purchase. Namawojolo is a road side market famous for its delicacy of roasted chicken and beef on sticks. After this rewarding tour you will drive back to Entebbe to finally wide up your 12 Days Uganda Safari Tour, Gorilla Trekking and Wildlife adventure.
