Tarangire National Park is a lovely, quiet park famous for its huge elephant herds of up to 300 animals! The park is named after the life-giving Tarangire River which provides the only permanent water for wildlife. Its grassy savanna plains are dotted with Africa’s Mythical Upside Down Trees (baobabs).

Tarangire also hosts a dense population of wildlife, especially during the dry season months: June to September.

At this time when the sun has baked all water from the surrounding landscapes, massive herds of elephants, wildebeest, zebra, and impala, file in great numbers to the receding banks of the river. Your destination today is the place where the land moves on forever – and Tanzania’s first game reserve, the Serengeti NP. One of the oldest ecosystems on earth, the Serengeti is home to Africa’s greatest concentrations of wildlife and it is renowned for the Great Migration, and the largest terrestrial mammal migration on Earth.

On arrival, enter through the southern region. Enjoy a game drive as you continue to your lodge or camp in central Serengeti. Have a packed lunch en route, so as to not cut into your game viewing time in this part of the Serengeti.

The area forms part of “the Great Migration” and is home to the Seronera River Valley one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Cats (lions, leopards, and cheetahs) on thrilling hunts. Reach your camp or lodge in the late afternoon for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

On the game drives, discover the heart of the Serengeti, the beautiful Seronera River Valley. The scenic landscape of this unspoiled valley is truly wonderful. Endless savannas stretch beyond the horizon.

Meandering rivers wind through pools, seasonal swamps, and open fields. The dark silhouettes of umbrella-shaped acacia trees rise above the plains and colossal granite kopjes loom in the distance, forming a classic image of quintessential Africa.

Seronera is the best place in Africa to observe large carnivores in action! It is not unusual to encounter all four large predators (lion, hyena, leopard, and cheetah) during the course of a day along with a multitude of smaller predators: mongoose, jackal, serval, and bat-eared fox.

After your first full safari in Serengeti, return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Your destination today is the Ngorongoro Crater. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch, after which you descend 2,000 feet to the crater floor. Ngorongoro is a place of rare wonders as its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site confers.

Formed by a massive volcanic eruption, the world’s largest intact caldera provides a year-round home to an astonishing 25,000 large mammals including rare black rhinos, wildebeests, and zebras along with Africa’s densest concentrations of lions.
