Your day two of the 15 days Rwanda safari Tour Trip begins with a leisurely breakfast, before embarking on an evocative visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. The memorial is built on the burial site of 250,000 victims of the genocide against the Tutsi tribe in which almost one million Rwandans were killed in 100 days.

It has an excellent exhibition that tries to explain how it was that the world watched as the 1994 Rwanda genocide unfolded.

Day 3: Drive to Nyungwe National Park. Visit Ethnographic Museum & the King’s Palace En-route.

Enjoy an early breakfast at 7 am and then embark on a 5-6 hour drive southwest to Nyungwe Forest National Park. The route takes you through rolling hills and beautiful scenery.  You’ll stop in the town of Butare to visit the detailed Ethnographic Museum to learn about the social-cultural history of Rwanda.

Proceed to Nyanza and tour the King’s Palace – the historical seat of the Rwandan kingdom. Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk in Nyungwe Forest

On day four of your 15 days Rwanda safari Tour Trip, you set off after breakfast to meet your expert local ranger guide at the park’s visitor center at 5 am. After the briefing, start your 2-5 hour trek to see the chimpanzee – our closest relatives.

You can enjoy looking for other primates, birds, butterflies, unique plants, and animals on the way.

Your guide will teach you about tracking the chimpanzees, pointing out signs they’ve left as you head through the forest. Upon reaching them you’ll be able to see them playing and interacting in their natural habitat – an incredible sight.

Day 5: Do Colobus Monkey Tracking & Afternoon Tea Estate Tour

On day five of your 15 days Rwanda safari tour trip, enjoy an early breakfast and transfer to Nyungwe National Park’s visitor center for yet another exciting adventure – tracking Colobus monkeys.

These beautiful old-world monkeys with their black fur and flowing white locks tend to form ‘super-groups’ counting over 400 individuals, a phenomenon that has been observed to happen only among the colobus monkeys in Nyungwe.

The gentle trek to see them will start at 8 am after the briefing. You hike through rolling hills draped with lush tea plantations before reaching a small, isolated patch of forest where these striking primates will be spotted jumping around the trees.

Day 10: Do Gorilla Trekking In Volcanoes NP & Relax.

Rwanda Gorilla trekking day! Transfer to the park headquarters early after breakfast and meet your excellent local park ranger guides for a briefing. After the briefing at 8 am, you are driven to the trailhead to start the gorilla trek.

The trek for these great apes can take anything from 30 mins to 7 hours – following your guide through the beautiful forests. It is relatively tiresome as the forest can be quite wet and the going fairly steep.

Along the way, you may encounter golden monkeys, a range of birds, and other forest creatures. And once you reach the gorillas, you then have one precious hour to spend watching these fascinating apes before trekking back to the trailhead.

Day 11: Golden Monkey Tracking In Volcanoes & Visit Ibyiwacu Cultural Village.

This morning you will depart after breakfast for the park headquarters for your walk to see the golden monkeys – a completely different experience but just as rewarding.

These beautiful, lively creatures are on the endangered list and are endemic to the Albertine Rift. They are fascinating to watch as they leap through the vegetation. The trek is generally easier and takes up to 3 hours. Once you find them, spend 1 hour observing their charming antics.

Return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, go for an enchanting cultural experience in the Ibyiwacu Village, a replica village of what traditional life was like back in the day for many Rwandans.
