Our 15 days Uganda birding safari is a 14 nights/15 days Uganda birding tour offering, unforgettable birdwatching in Ugand and an amazing Uganda wildlife viewing trip experience.

This 15 days Uganda birding safari trip focuses on top Uganda birding destinations, offering superb scenery and wildlife safari in Uganda experiences, as well as two boat cruises and one canoe ride.

Uganda hosts over 1,073 birds of Uganda (species), 50% of Africa’s bird species, and is the most accessible place to see the incredible, pre-historic Shoebill. To find it, we’ll undertake a canoe ride and explore the legendary Mabamba Swamp on the shore of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest freshwater lake.

We then head northwest to Budongo Forest teeming with over 360 bird species including the endemic Puvel’s illadopsis and also a good selection of primates. We move to Murchison Falls National Park with over 451 Uganda birds (species) and 76 mammal species.

Here we have another chance to see the iconic Shoebills on a boat cruise along the historic River Nile in Jinja. We continue to Kibale National Park with over 375 bird species including the rare, elusive, and beautiful Green-breasted Pitta, also the best place in the world to see Chimpanzees in their natural habitat. We continue to the superb Queen Elizabeth Park with over 600 bird species, the largest checklist of any protected area in East Africa. Also over 96 mammals of Uganda species have been recorded here including the rare tree-climbing lions.

Eventually, we travel onwards to the great Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage, hosting the most exciting selection of forest birds in Africa including 23 Albertine Rift endemics. Here we’ll search for the near-mythical African Green Broadbill, Short-tailed Warbler, handsome francolin, Bar-tailed trogon, Rwenzori turaco, Regal Sunbird, and Strange Weaver plus more. Finally, before our 15 days Uganda birding tour draws to a close, we’ll visit Lake Mburo National Park, where we’ll look for the rare and localized Red-faced Barbet, as well as African Finfoot.

Here our main target is the rare, endangered, and localized Grauer’s Broadbill or African Green Broadbill, one of Africa’s most sought-after birds. This special bird species is only known from two sites in the world, the other being a remote forest in eastern Democratic Republic Congo

We will also look for Grauer’s Rush Warbler, Rwenzori Apalis, Rwenzori Batis, Rwenzori double-collared Sunbird, Rwenzori turaco, Black-billed Turaco, Regal Sunbird, Dusky Crimsonwing, Carruther’s Cisticola, Olive, Elliot’s and Fine-banded Woodpeckers, African Hill Babbler, Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher, Mountain Illadopsis, Mountain Greenbul, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Grey Cuckooshrike, Chestnut-throated, Collared, and Black-throated Apalis, Mountain Yellow Warbler, Stripe-breasted Tit, Mountain and Shelley’s and Yellow-streaked Greenbuls among many other bird species.

Because of the steep trail, walking sticks are recommended. The option of borrowing walking sticks and hiring porters to carry everything other than binoculars and cameras will be available. We’ll retreat in the evening for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
