Day 1: Transfer From Kampala To Jinja – Source Of The Nile River. Enjoy A Full Day White-Water Rafting Adventure On The Grade 5 Rapids Of The Nile And Relax At Your Lodge.

The pick-up from the hotel in Kampala is at 6.30 am. You then embark on a 2-hour drive east to the beautiful town of Jinja which is renowned for the Source of the Nile – the world’s longest river. Jinja Nile River is also a world-class white-water rafting destination, with routes full of variety, from quiet pools to thunderous rapids and drops. It includes several grade IV and V rapids to navigate. You’ll raft with highly trained guides who know the river intimately.

Grade V rapids can flip rafts over, sending you into the river, but lots of people enjoy this kind of immersive experience. Safety kayakers will stay close to the raft at all times and can quickly paddle over to fetch you if you do fall in. If you are not keen on going through the raging grade 5 rapids the rafting guides will take you through the softer rapids. You get to have lunch in between and at the end of the adventure. Day 2: Drive From Jinja To Pian Upe Reserve.

Wake up early for breakfast at around 6.30 am. Then drive further northeast 5 hours of adventure road trip northeast to Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve in the semi-arid Karamoja region. Pian Upe is one of the untouched safari spots of Uganda – yet to be discovered. This reserve features a striking landscape that consists of vast plains, rocky outcrops, and mountains.

It is also home to a respectable collection of large mammals, birds, and reptiles. Mammals include Waterbucks, Zebras, Cheetahs, Giraffes, Buffalo, Uganda kobs, Mountain reedbuck, Roan antelope, Jackson’s hartebeest, Oribi, Elands, Topi, Lion, Leopard, Spotted hyenas, Serval cats, Olive baboons, Patas Monkey, and Vervet monkeys. Day 4: Unlimited Game Drives In Kidepo Valley National Park.

Early breakfast and set out for a full day safari in Kidepo, an amazing Uganda wildlife safari park that has often been featured in international travel publications and media as one of the top national parks in Africa, especially for having the best landscape. When you imagine a safari in Africa, a Kidepo is what you are thinking about, a rugged landscape, dry savannah, and lots of animals.

Explore the Narus valley in the south of Kidepo which is the park’s main animal viewing area because it has permanent water sources and is greener than other areas. Some of the animals expected to see include elephants, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, antelopes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, Ostriches, etc… Also, visit the Kidepo Valley in the north which has fewer animals but amazing scenery and unique features such as the dry river bed where you can have a picnic, and the Kanangorok hot springs. Day 6: Travel To Murchison Falls National Park.

At around 7.30 am, have breakfast, check out of the lodge, and depart Kidepo for Murchison Falls National Park. This 7-8 hour journey will take you through the stunning landscapes of northern Uganda. You’ll stop for lunch in Kitgum town and then proceed to Murchison Falls National Park, where you will arrive in the late afternoon relax for dinner, and overnight.

Day 7: Morning Game Drive & An Afternoon Nile Launch Cruise To The Bottom Of Murchison Falls

After breakfast at 6.00 am, you go exploring the Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s biggest park and the most amazing destination for wildlife safaris in Uganda due to its abundance of wildlife. The park is situated along the River Nile on which the spectacular Murchison Falls is located and gives the park its name.

You start with a 4 hours game drive on the northern bank of the Nile which is dominated by savannah and t harbors the biggest volume of wildlife. Expect to see among other animals; Rothschild’s giraffes, Cape buffaloes, African elephants, lions, antelopes, warthogs, patas monkeys, Olive baboon, Leopard, etc… Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

At 2 pm, out for the boat cruise along the River Nile which offers sightings of hippos, crocodiles, birds, and other wildlife, and will treat you to beautiful scenery as well. The boat trip which is 3 hours long takes you to the bottom of Murchison Falls. You witness the 50 meters wide Nile River bursting through an 8-meter rocky gap and exploding into the world’s strongest waterfall! It is quite a spectacle! Day 8: Enjoy A Nile-Lake Albert Delta Boat Cruise With Bush Breakfast & An Evening Game Drive In Murchison Falls National Park.

You will have your breakfast at around 8.00 am and then undertake a 5-hour boat trip from Paraa to the Nile delta area, where the Victoria Nile empties into Lake Albert. The delta supports a large variety of waterbirds, but the ultimate prize is the sight of a shoebill. Sightings of this uncommon bird, which look like something from Jurassic Park, are great here

This 20km boat ride is a “must-do” for birders, but it’s also a terrific chance to observe the lovely scenery and wildlife. You will observe many hippos swimming in the river, as well as enormous Nile crocodiles and elephants lounging on the banks. In the treetops along the river banks, you can see lively colobus monkeys and Olive baboons. Among the top highlights of the boat, the excursion will be a stop along the banks for a wonderful bush breakfast prepared by your private chef. Return to the lodge for lunch and then prepare for your evening game drive to seek other wildlife you might have missed on the earlier game excursions.

Day 9: Visit The Top Of Murchison Falls & Transfer To Kibale Forest National Park.

At around 8:00 a.m., enjoy your breakfast and then drive to the top of Murchison Falls. The experience at the top of the fall is staggering. After viewing the spectacular falls, continue south to Kibale National Park. Take in the beautiful scenery as you drive across the Albertine rift valley. You arrive in Fort Portal in time for lunch. Fort Portal is a very beautiful town in Uganda, nestled in the shadow of the Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the Mountains of the Moon.

You’ll have lunch at one of the town’s finest restaurants after which you continue on the journey south to the primate-packed Kibale Forest. Kibale is an extensive expanse of lush, green tropical rainforest renowned for having Africa’s highest primate density and variety — a total of 13 primate species. Arrive at your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 10: Morning Chimpanzee Trekking In Kibale Forest & Afternoon Bigodi Community Walk.

Have breakfast at 6.00 am and transfer to Kibale National Park Visitor Centre for your chimpanzee trekking adventure. Chimpanzee tracking gives you a rare opportunity to see chimps in the forest instead of in a zoo. Kibale has the biggest population of chimps in Uganda and is, therefore, the prime destination for chimp trips as it offers a 95% chance to see them. You’ll meet the park ranger guides by 7 am at the park office and set off into the forest to track a community of habituated chimps. You will spend one hour with the chimps and return to the lodge for lunch.

Later in the afternoon, you shall go to the Bigodi Community for a village walk. You spend time with the friendly local people learning about the unique ways of life including making local banana beer, banana juice, and waragi gin. You can visit traditional healers and learn about herbs, and local medicines. The 2-3 hour drive will take through the stunning landscape of western Uganda including the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains. You’ll make a stop in Kasese to visit the Ruboni Village. Experience the unique cultural traditions of the Bakonzo people that have lived on the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains for centuries. After the cultural visit, continue to Queen Elizabeth NP, arriving at the lodge for relaxation and lunch.

After lunch, go for the boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel to view some of the highest concentrations of hippos in the world.

The Kazinga Channel is a stream of water joining two lakes in the park, Lake Edward and Lake George. Day 13: Transfer To Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Enjoy An En-Route Game Drive The Southern Section Of Queen Elizabeth Park (Ishasha) In Search Of Tree-Climbing Lions.

You’ll have breakfast at 8.00 am and then drive for 4 to 7 hours to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will have a short game drive en-route in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park (Ishasha plains). The Ishasha is popular for the tree-climbing lions and it is thus a great stop for a chance to see the lions in trees. After the search for these brilliantly adapted creatures, exit the park and continue on a scenic drive through the rolling hills of southwestern Uganda as you make your way to the great Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Gazetted in 1991 and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994, Bwindi is a tropical rainforest wonderland. The 321 square kilometer park is a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site that is home to almost half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas, 120 other mammal species, 10 species of monkeys, 351 bird species, 340 species of montane butterflies, 27 species of frogs and over 1000 species of flowering plants. Day 14: Undertake A Gorilla Trekking Adventure In Bwindi Impenetrable Forest & Transfer To Lake Bunyonyi For Relaxation.

After breakfast at 6.30 am, go for the gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The gorilla trek is one of the most popular wildlife adventures in Africa, giving you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the gorillas in their natural habitat.

You report to the park office by 7 am to attend a briefing and allocation to the habituated gorilla families. By 8 am, set off into the jungles to look for the gorillas, trekking through thick jungles, hiking up steep hills and ridges, and sometimes crossing water streams. The time taken to find the gorillas varies from 2-7 hours depending on the location of the gorillas. After finding the gorillas you spend only 1hour. After the unforgettable gorilla encounter, return and trek back to the starting point to receive your gorilla trekking certificate.

Have your packed picnic lunch and embark on a 1½ hour drive to Lake Bunyonyi. Drive through the captivating terraced Highlands of Kigezi and arrive at your lodge on the lakeshore in the evening for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 15: Canoe Ride, Island Hopping & Relaxation At Lake Bunyonyi.

After breakfast at 8 am, explore Lake Bunyonyi which is located in an area that is popularly referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa”. Take an early morning canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyito to enjoy the mystic views and relax in the cool weather. Visit some of the islands on the lake, and observe some nature. Bunyonyi is a local term that translates to “birds”, aptly named so as you shall see the many bird species. Return to the lodge for breakfast, relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 16: Relaxed Breakfast And Transfer To Lake Mburo National Park. Enjoy A Traditional Lunch Stop At Igongo Cultural Centre And An Evening Game Drive On Arrival

Have early breakfast, check out, and leave for Lake Mburo National Park. You shall make a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch and thereafter proceed to Lake Mburo National Park. After clearance at the park entrance, you will drive through the game tracks to observe some wildlife. Lake Mburo is the smallest of the savannah parks but its diversity is very impressive.

It is popular for the presence of many herbivores for example Giraffes, Zebras, Oribi, Impalas, Elands, Buffaloes, Waterbuck, Topi, Reedbuck, and Bushbuck. Other animals that inhabit the park include Warthogs, Leopard, Crocodiles, Hippos, Sitatunga, and Hyena. You will then continue to your accommodation for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

After an early breakfast at 6.00 am, you’ll go on a game walk in Lake Mburo National Park with an armed ranger. Expect to see a lot of wildlife up close. After close to 2 hours in the bush return to the lodge for breakfast, check out, and leave for Entebbe. You stop at the Uganda Equator for some picture moments and also purchase some crafts. Thereafter continue to Entebbe, arriving at Entebbe International Airpot in preparation for your departure flight.
