Day 1: Transfer to Akagera NP for A Game Drive & Boat Cruise

Your 2-day Akagera safari in Rwanda begins at 7 am.

Your tour driver guide shall pick you up from your place of stay in Kigali and take you on a very scenic 2½-hour drive east to Akagera National Park. Along the way, you will see plenty of local life with vegetable and fruit markets lining the road, to be replaced by banana plantations as you leave the city behind.

Before checking into your accommodation, you will take a short game drive to spot some animals and take the breathtaking scenery. The southern part of Akagera is the arrival point and offers you your first game drive. Expect to encounter some Zebra, Giraffe, Impala, Reedbuck, Baboons, Vervet Monkeys, etc.

However, the most exciting prospect in the south of Akagera is the Rhino! The rhinos live in this part of the park which is their natural habitat, so if you are lucky you may see them. After the game drive, continue to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, go for a leisurely boat ride on Lake Ihema, watching for the many hippos and crocodiles. Spot more wildlife such as elephants and buffalos, as they gather at the lakeshore to drink.  Also observe plenty of waterbirds such as Shoebills, herons, fish eagles, kingfishers, and jacanas. Retire for dinner, and overnight.
