Day 1 of the 3 Days Lake Mburo Safari: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. Make a stop at Uganda Equator Crossing Kayabwe & Do an Evening Game Drive on Arrival.

Have an early breakfast at around 6.30 am and then embark on a 240km (3-4 hours) drive southwest to Lake Mburo National Park. You’ll break this journey after driving 77km from Kampala at the Equator crossing Kayabwe which is a renowned site for photography since most travelers prefer taking pictures with one leg in the southern hemisphere and the other in the northern hemisphere. There are also geographical experiments that can be carried out for the keen geographers to demonstrate the geographical separation of the two hemispheres.
You retreat from this break and continue on the drive to Lake Mburo Park. Upon arrival, you check-in at the lodge, settle for lunch and relaxation, and at 4 pm, you embark on an evening game drive to explore the impressive park landscapes with the views of the savannah at the sunset. Look for Impalas, Burchell’s zebras, Cape buffalo herds, Topis, Rothschild’s giraffes, Common elands, Common warthogs, Defassa waterbucks, and several bird species before retiring for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 2 of the 3 Days Lake Mburo Safari: Do a Game Walking Safari in the Morning & an Afternoon Boat Ride on Lake Mburo.
Enjoy your breakfast at around 6.30 am and then undertake a 3-4 hours game walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park. This game walk at sunrise allows you to explore the moist savannah dotted with magical acacia species supporting a range of wildlife and birds. During the walk, you have the possibility of exploring the range of animals including Impala, Burchell’s Zebra, Rothschild giraffes, Topis, Defassa waterbucks, Common warthogs, Bushbucks, Cape Buffaloes, and Common elands.
Of course, you will also see a variety of birds! Over 350 species have been recorded in the park, ranging from a variety of waterbirds to rare and range-restricted species. Some of the top birds we will search for today are the Red-faced Barbet, Rufous-bellied Heron, Bateleur, Coqui Francolin, Grey Crowned Crane, Black-bellied Bustard, Brown-chested Lapwing, Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove, Brown Parrot, Red-headed Lovebird, Ross’s Turaco, Bare-faced Go-away-bird, Green Wood-hoopoe, Common Scimitarbill, White-headed Barbet, Nubian Woodpecker, Red-shouldered Cuckoo-shrike, Long-tailed Cisticola, Yellow-breasted Apalis, White-winged Tit to name just a few.
You retreat from the encounter and transfer back to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, connect to the Rwonyo jetty for a boat cruise on Lake Mburo. In addition to the attractive scenery and simple pleasure attached to being on the water, this thrilling afternoon boat ride offers reliable and spectacular sightings of hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, waterbucks, and bushbucks. You can also look out for the three Otter species that inhabit the lake.
Several waterbirds including African fish eagles, Kingfishers, Egrets, and Herons can all be seen on the lake while Ross’s turaco and Narina trogon are frequently seen in lakeside thickets. Lake Mburo is also a great place in Uganda to see the elusive African Finfoot, which is generally associated with still water below overhanging branches.

Day 3 of the 3 Days Lake Mburo Safari: Visit the Banyankole Community & Transfer Back to Kampala.
Wake up at 6 am and connect to the Enyemebwa center to catch up with the herdsmen getting up to do the milking and their daily routine. You arrive and get the milking equipment including the tying rope and the milking pot to actively participate in the traditional hand milking of the world-famous Ankole long-horned cattle, selected for sake of their conservation considering the beauty and color of the body. They’re diverse and unique reflecting the true traits of ancient cattle that were left behind by the famous Chwezi people.
From milking, you participate in sick animal treating, caring for cows like brushing their body using the locally made fiber brush (Enkuyo) and set out to graze in the wilderness. You enjoy the stimulating sounds that are made by the herd’s men as they set out to the grazing field and be mesmerized by the cows know how to align themselves forming a line headed by those that have a special character of leading others.
You retreat and visit the traditional hut where you find the women churning milk in the churning gourd, from here the guide can take you to explore the crop bit of it exploring the extensive banana plantations where you learn about various banana types and their respective use participate in pruning and weeding using local methods and then participate in initial arrangements for traditional lunch. Retreat from the activity and embark on the transfer back to Kampala in the afternoon 240km about 3 – 4 hours’ drive.
