3 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari from Kigali – SAFARI DETAILS

Day 1: Transfer From Kampala To Lake Mburo National Park & Enjoy an Afternoon Game Drive or Boat Ride on Lake Mburo

After having breakfast at your place of stay in Kampala / Entebbe, you will meet your Prime safaris guide who will brief you about the entire trip. After the briefing, at 6:30 am you shall transfer to Lake Mburo National Park Uganda 240km about 3 – 4 hours’ drive. We will have an en’ route stop at the Ugandan Equator crossing point at Kayabwe, for an experiment where you can stand with one leg in the Northern hemisphere while the other remains in the Southern.

This is a perfect photo session spot and site for purchasing souvenirs to carry back home. You will proceed to the park for an afternoon game drive exploring the impressive savannah landscapes of the park with chances of spotting Impalas, Burchell’s Zebra, Buffaloes, Elands, defassa waterbucks, Bohor reedbuck, among others.

The sunset views of the savannah are also rewarding. Alternatively, the afternoon optionally be allocated to a thrilling boat ride on Lake Mburo – the only lake that is entirely within the National Park boundaries. The possible sights of Nile crocodile, Hippos, wild game drinking on the shores, birds such as African fish eagle, African fin foot among will be realized. Retire for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning game walking safari & transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

The game walking tour in Uganda starts at 7 am and lasts for 2 hours walking through the moist savannah landscapes in search of wild game. The beautiful wildlife species including Zebras, Impalas, warthogs, elands and waterbucks among others are usually explored spread across the park.

The sights of birds would also make the encounter worthwhile. From the walking safari, proceed on the transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Uganda. You will have a lunch break for traditionally prepared lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre. Sightseeing of the countryside including villages and Kigezi Highlands will make the drive worthwhile.

Day 3: Enjoy Mountain Gorilla Trekking & Transfer To Kigali Rwanda.

You will enjoy early breakfast, dressed in appropriate Gorilla trekking attire, you will depart from the lodge with your lunch box and gather at the gorilla trekking information Centre of the region at 8 am where you will join other tourists for briefing and group allocation. The briefing will be followed by the trek to the dense forested rugged landscapes of Bwindi Forest dubbed the “Impenetrable” in search of the respective gorilla family.

The sights and sounds of the jungle including lush flora and beautiful birds will make the journey to the Mountain Gorillas interesting.  The trekking uphill and downhill makes the trek a bit challenging but rewarding.  Upon reaching the Mountain Gorillas, you will spend one full hour viewing them as they forage and socialize.  You are free to take good photos provided the flash photography is off.  Retreat from the activity and transfer to Kigali enjoying the sights of Rwandan hillsides to mark the end of the Uganda safari tour.

3 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari from Kigali – GORILLA TREKKING TIPS

  Bwindi being a tropical forest, it can rain anytime so we encourage you to carry a rain poncho

  Waterproof walking shoes or hiking boots are essential.

  Gardening gloves for protection against stinging plants

  Long trousers and long sleeved sweaters or shirts while in the forest to avoid insect stings.

  Photography is permitted, although you must not use flash

  Porters are available to help you carry your day pack for a small charge

  As you prepare to come for your Uganda gorilla adventure, please do some exercises so that you prepare your body for gorilla trekking which can last between 3-8 hours

  In case you can’t walk for a very long time, you shouldn’t really worry about not being able to do gorilla trekking because there are potters who can carry you throughout at a small extra cost.

  Carry your sunscreen lotion to keep your skin safe from the tropical heat & sun rays

  When you get to the gorillas, don’t make noise because this agitates the gorillas
