With armed rangers at the back and in the lead, you will undertake your Uganda gorilla trek, searching for your allocated gorilla family. Along the way, you will see several of the 350 bird species that are found in the Bwindi Forest that might come your way, as well as other primates here such as the Black and white colobus monkeys, L’hoest monkeys, different species of lizards and the endemic 3 horned chameleon and many more.

The gorilla trek tends to take 2 – 8 hours depending on the Gorilla’s movements and one hour is availed to you to have direct touch with the Mountain gorillas from when you find them. Upon approaching gorillas, their reaction is always interesting, as it can include them giving you a courteous welcome, minding less about you etc.

Mountain gorillas are always welcoming with the Silverback beating a little of his chest to demonstrate his might and welcoming you to his family. Watch out for the young gorillas, they are very playful and are at times not aware of the 7m rule and thus can try to draw closer to even touching your body – save it by taking some steps away to observe the distance.

Ask as many questions about gorillas and their habitats along with taking pictures so long as you have the opportunity to do so. After your one hour with the gorillas, you shall trek back to the starting point for a gorilla trekking certificate to take home as proof of your much-desired Africa gorilla trek in Bwindi Impenetrable forest and connect to the lodge for relaxation.

In the evening engage in a Batwa Pygym community village walk experience which will allow you to have an up-close encounter with this Indigenous tribe of pygmies that used to reside in the forest before it was people to have an understanding of their daily lives.
