4 Days Luxury Uganda Safari – Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi & Golden Monkeys

4 Days Luxury Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari & Gorilla Habituation Experience Bwindi Tour

4 Days Luxury Uganda Safari: Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi and Golden Monkeys; SAFARI OVERVIEW

This is an amazing 4 Days Luxury Uganda Safari offering an unforgettable Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi & gorilla trekking in Uganda, golden monkeys in Mgahinga Forest, and visiting the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi and her communities.

You will track the non-habituated and then trek the habituated gorillas, which is a rare incidence. This Uganda gorilla trekking and habituation safari is best suited for gorilla fanatics as well as those who are looking for better photography opportunities, which can only be achieved by combining gorilla habituation and trekking, thus making the most of both activities in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Each of these two incredible gorilla experiences offers you a unique insight into the lives of these lovely gentle mountain giants in their natural setting; however, both activities will require you to have physical ability since they involve hiking.

Once you come across the gorillas, gorilla trekking allows you one hour of viewing, while the habituation will last 4 hours with these magical beings.  While on this safari to Uganda, you will visit the indigenous Batwa Pygmies who once resided in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for over 1000 years, and explore their lifestyle and culture.

This 4 Days Uganda gorilla trekking and habitat safari also takes you to Africa’s second-deepest lake, Lake Bunyonyi Uganda with its unforgettable view and amazing scenery. It has 29 islands that you will explore during a canoe ride on the lake as you cap off the safari.

During this 4-day luxury Uganda gorilla safari tour, you will stay in the most glamorous lodges in the region with fascinating views and elegant facilities.

You will fly from Entebbe to Bwindi National Park and back to avoid the 9-hour drive, as this option is more comfortable since you will be doing a double gorilla adventure.

This trip requires early booking since gorilla habituation can only be done in special regions and allows only four participants per group.

Equipped with a packed lunch and lots of drinking water, your guide will drive you to the park headquarters, where you will meet the habituation team comprising trackers, researchers, conservationists, and rangers who will brief and soon lead you into the forest trail so that you catch up with the gorillas as they depart their nest.

Gorilla habituation allows you to observe the gorillas for 4 hours from the time you encounter them, compared to ordinary gorilla trekking, which allows for only 1 hour. The thrill of being part of the habituation process of these gentle giants is humbling and will offer you an opportunity to ask the researchers as many questions as you want about gorillas in general.

You will have ample time for photography and enjoyment as you observe them play, feed, and care for their little ones. You will encounter other wild mammals and birds that live within the confines of this park.

At the end of this activity, you will retreat back to the park center, where you will be awarded a gorilla habituation certificate for your trekking efforts.  After gorilla habituation, your next safari adventure will be a visit to the local Batwa community.

While on this community tour, they will share with you some of their hunting skills, herbal medicine knowledge, and general lifestyle.

You will be visiting a local homestead, where you will be observing their bedding, child care, and cooking techniques. and if you want, you can taste some of their local delicacies.  You will visit one of the prominent herbalists, who will take you through the natural remedies used to treat several of their ailments.

Day 3: Undertake Mountain Gorilla trekking Experience and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Today is the day you will get to meet the incredible habituated gorillas while on this Uganda safari tour! You will have breakfast very early in the morning at 6:30 am, then you will be transferred to the park offices, where you will receive a short briefing about the dos and don’ts to be observed during this gorilla trekking adventure.

After this briefing, you will set off into the jungle on your search for the gorillas under the leadership of a very skilled armed ranger guide who will also help you make sense of the numerous attractions that you will find along the search for the gorillas, including several of the 350 Uganda bird species that have made this park an incredible birding destination to many birders on their Uganda birding safari adventure.

Several other primates, such as Black and White colobus monkeys and L’Hoest monkeys, might also come your way, and some of the 27 lizard species, like the three-horned chameleons, can be spotted. On seeing the gorillas, you have a full hour with these magical beings to watch them as they go about their daily lives, and if you’re lucky, you might get to see the young gorillas break the 7 meters or 21 feet rule because the further back you are, the more relaxed the group will be.

After one hour of contact with these gorillas, you will be transferred back to the park center, where you will be awarded a gorilla tracking certificate for your tracking efforts. From here, you will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, where you can relax from the gorilla habituation and trekking experience. On arrival at this beautiful tropical gem of the Kigezi Highland, you will be fascinated by the breathtaking view of this lake and the numerous islands that are dotted all over it.

You will engage in a canoe ride on the lake, touring the various islands as the guide on board explains to you the history behind each of them.

The most prominent one is Akampene Island, also referred to as the punishment island, where young girls who got pregnant were thrown and left to die alone. The upside-down island, also known as Bukuranuka, is believed to have been cursed by an old lady when the young people who lived on that island refused to give her beer. She cursed it, and it turned upside down, hence having them all drown. The rest of these islands are Njuyeera (Sharp’s Island), Bushara, and Kyahunge Island.

From this boat cruise, you will transfer to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

The highlight of the day is gorilla trekking, or encountering the habituated mountain gorillas for an hour.
