Day 1: Arrive At Kigali International Airport & Transfer To Volcanoes National Park.
After arriving at Kigali International Airport, you’ll meet one of our professional driver guides with a very clean and comfortable 4×4 safari vehicle. He will brief you about the destination Rwanda and this 4 days safari to Rwanda.
You will then be driven northwest through Rwanda’s beautiful, terraced rolling hills to Musanze Town on the foothills of the volcanic Virunga Mountains. Your accommodation will be near the Volcanoes National Park headquarters.
Volcanoes National Park covers an area of 160km2 and is home to a third of the world’s last remaining Mountain Gorillas. The park also hosts the rare Golden monkeys and is where famous Primatologist, Dian Fossey spent 18 years of her life studying and protecting these great mountain creatures – a lifetime of work that would inspire the well-known Hollywood, “Gorillas in the Mist” movie.

Day 2: Do Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes NP & Musanze Caves Walk
Day two of your 4 days safari to Rwanda starts with an early breakfast at 6 am. Then take a short drive to the park offices for a briefing.
After the briefing at 8 am, embark on your unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure. A Gorilla trek can take from 1 to 7 hours of hiking on steep, narrow footpaths, which are sometimes muddy and slippery. You need to be reasonably fit.
Your expert local guide will ensure you take plenty of breaks. And once you find the gorillas (we share 98% of our DNA with them) it will all be worth it. You’ll have a full hour of watching these human-like creatures feed, groom, and interact with each other in their natural habitat – an incredible experience!
After your gorilla trekking experience, return to the lodge for a delicious late lunch while reflecting on your magical encounter with our close cousins.
In the afternoon, go for 2-hour Musanze Caves walk – walking underground these historic caves, formed 65 million years ago by lava flow from Virunga Volcanoes. The caves feature 31 entrances and stretch to 2km inside.
Retire for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3: Do Golden Monkey Tracking in Volcanoes National Park. Transfer to Lake Kivu, Gisenyi Beach for Relaxation.
On day 3 of your 4 days safari to Rwanda, enjoy an early breakfast. Next, transfer to the park headquarters to meet your guide for a briefing. At 8 am, begin your trek to meet one of the troops of golden monkeys – the “little primates” of the Virungas.
These rare and endangered creatures are endemic to the Virunga Mountains. They in troops of up 100 members on the lower slopes of the forest, making them easier to trek (1-3 hours). They’re wonderfully lively and entertaining to watch, leaping through the bamboo above your head!
You spend up to an hour observing their charming antics.
You retreat from the encounter and connect to Gisenyi on the northern shore of Lake Kivu, one of the most beautiful lakes in East and Central Africa. Spend the day unwinding on the sandy shores of this African Great Lake. Enjoy the tropical setting and lovely views while relaxing on the palm-fringed beach.

Day 4: Drive Back To Kigali & Visit Kigali Genocide Memorial.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and then embark on a drive back to Kigali. Upon arrival, visit the Kigali Genocide Museum, an incredible site, documenting the harrowing history of the 1994 Rwandan genocide.
The museum was created by a joint partnership of the Kigali City Council and the UK-based Aegis Trust. It is extremely moving, challenging, educational, and ultimately inspiring as well as a great place to understand the cause, tragedy and successful rebuilding post-genocide.
It hosts a tour that is educational but very somber and humbling when guests realize that over 250,000 deceased are buried on the site of the memorial.
After the museum visit, you will be driven to the airport for your scheduled departure flight at the end of this wonderful 4 days safari to Rwanda.
