Day 1, 2 & 3: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Day 4: Lake Bunyonyi
On the first day of this safari, after breakfast, you will be picked up and briefed from your hotel by your Prime safaris safari guide who will be leading you on this safari adventure. You will embark on this 8 -9-hour journey covering about 520km. During this amazing journey on the spectacular highway, you will drive through busy colourful rural and semi-urban trading centres/towns enjoying sights of roadside fresh food markets, carpentry and metal workshops as well as other roadside trade activities. In order to stretch and relax from the long drive, shortstops will be made like at Mpambire drum centre where you will engage in community interaction with the local craftsmen who manufacture a wide variety of local musical instruments especially drums. Your next en’ route stop will be at the Uganda Equator which is 77km from Kampala for the famous hemisphere experiment as well as photo session and bathroom break. You will proceed with the journey and have a lunch break at Igongo country hotel for a nutritious meal prepared from organic foodstuffs. You will continue with your journey to Bwindi National Park’s southern sector where Gorilla Habituation takes place enjoying views of the beautiful countryside scenery arriving at the lodge in the evening.

After breakfast at 6:30 am with your packed lunch, you will transfer to the park headquarters for a short briefing about the gorilla habituation experience that you will be undertaking. After the briefing, you will follow the trail lead by the ranger to the family undergoing Habituation, while traversing the forest with its hilly forested landscapes and deep saddles. The hills are forested with mature trees and dense undergrowth that have earned it the name Impenetrable thus we recommend that you dress in appropriate Gorilla tracking attire with steadfast boots. Just like it is with gorilla tracking you are in for an encounter of other wild mammals and birds that live within the confinements of this park. The gorilla habituation encounter tends to last 2 – 8 hours inclusive of four (4) hours direct viewing of gorillas. These 4 hours are counted from the time you encounter the nest in which the gorillas slept the previous night. During gorilla habituation you will be joined by the researchers, conservationists, trackers who will be monitoring this specific group while understanding each member individually, their behaviour etc. while making them get used to human beings. You will as well participate in any activity you will be required to such as sample collection, identification; naming and through this you will after the experience is able to have an in-depth understanding of each member. At the end of this activity, you will retreat back to the park centre where you will be awarded a gorilla habituation certificate.
After Gorilla Habitation your guide will lead you to your next safari adventure in which you will visit the indigenous Batwa community. They will teach you about their culture and showcase their lifestyle like hunting and gathering, hunting, fire making as well as herbal treatment. After the Batwa encounter, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Today is the day you will meet the habituated gorillas while on this Uganda safari tour! You will after breakfast at 6:30 am be transferred to the park offices where you will receive a short briefing about the dos and don’ts for a gorilla trekking adventure. After this briefing, you will set off into the jungle in search for the gorillas in the lead of a very skilled armed ranger guide who will also help you make sense of the numerous attractions that you will find along the search for the gorillas and these include several of the 350 bird species that have made this park an incredible birding destination to many birders on their Uganda birding adventure. Several other primates such as Black and White colobus monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys might also come your way and some of the 27 Lizard species like the three-horned chameleons can be spotted. On seeing the gorillas, you have a full hour with these magical beings watching them as they go about their daily lives and if you’re lucky you might get to see the young gorillas break the 7-meter rule as they get closure to you to have you incorporated in their games. After the full hour contact with these gorillas, you will transfer back to the park headquarter where you get awarded a Gorilla tracking certificate for your tracking efforts. From here, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi where you get to relax from the rather a bit tedious gorilla habituation and trekking experiences. Upon arrival at this beautiful tropical gem of the Kigezi highland, you will be fascinated by the tranquil waters of this lake and the numerous islands that are dotted over it making the scenery absolutely amazing. You will have a canoe ride along the lake with the boat guide explaining the history as well as the importance of each Island you will be visiting such as Bushara, Akampene the punishment Island ,Kyahunge, Bwama ,Njuyeera also referred to as the Sharp’s Island and Bucuranuka the upside-down island. He will as well be spotting beautiful photographic views as well as birds prominent in this location such as the grey crowned cranes, cardinal woodpecker, and African king fisher, herons, levillian cuckoo and so many others. From this boat cruise, you will head to your lodge for dinner and relaxation.

The final day of this safari begins as the sky starts to lighten and the morning chorus of birdsong awakens you. After a relaxed breakfast on the deck of the lodge overseeing the beautiful scenery waters, you will embark on a hike to the top of the world viewing point which takes you 2200 meters above sea level and if you manage to get to the top your efforts will be rewarded with a spectacular breathtaking view of the entire Lake Bunyonyi which will forever remain in your memory. While at the top take you will enjoy a small snack or a cup of Ugandan coffee and also re-energize before you slope down. You will check out of the lodge and embark on the transfer to Kampala 420km and Entebbe 470km from Lake Bunyonyi. During this 470km return journey to Entebbe, you will enjoy Uganda’s beautiful countryside landscape scenery. You will drive through some of the major towns along the way such as Mbarara where you will have lunch at the Igongo cultural centre and enjoy sights of the long-horned cattle as you drive towards Kampala. You will arrive in Entebbe late evening and be dropped off at your Hotel or the airport depending on your travel plans. Short bathroom breaks and photography session stops will be made along the way to break from the long driving hours.
