5 Days Uganda Safari- DETAILED SAFARI ITINERARY
Day 1 of the 5 Days Uganda Safari: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth Park and engage in an evening game drive experience
The first day of this 5 days Uganda safari begins with an early morning pick up at 6:30 am from your hotel or place of residence within Kampala or Entebbe by one of our highly skilled safari driver guides using one of our 4×4 safari cars. After getting comfortable in the safari car, you will commence the 6-7 hour fascinating road drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park which lies 417km away from Kampala in South Western Uganda.
During this epic journey, you will enjoy exciting road stops at different points of the journey aimed at giving you an opportunity to have a break from this journey to allow you to stretch your body and also have an interaction with the local people.
The first stop will come at Mpambire drum centre where you will have an encounter with local artists as they manufacture a wide variety of local musical instruments such as drums, and African chairs. You make a stop at Uganda Equator Crossing Kayabwe after driving 77km from Kampala and have time to explore this significant geographical site – the Sun’s way and the point of separation between the northern and southern hemispheres.
A well-interpreted water experiment is performed to show the separation of these two poles. The place also features rewarding photographing opportunities where you take photos with one leg in the northern hemisphere and another in the southern hemisphere. Continue on the drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park making another stop at Igongo Cultural Center for an amazing traditional lunch where you enjoy local food organically produced and freshly served.
You can also take an optional tour to the Erijukiro Museum which features a range of artefacts of the tribes of southwestern Uganda. From here you will press on with the rest of the drive to Queen Elizabeth Park and while at it you will enjoy scenic views of Bunyaruguru Crater and the lush Kalinzu forest.
Along the way, you will encounter the eastern edge of the western arm of the great East African rift valley and while here you will have impressive views of Queen Elizabeth which lies on the valley floor you can stop to have a photo moment before proceeding to your already pre-booked lodge for relaxation from this journey dinner and an overnight stay as well.

Day 2 of the 5 Days Uganda Safari: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth Park for a morning game drive and boat cruise
Today you will wake up early in the morning at 6:00 am for breakfast after which you will embark on a 2-3 hours’ drive covering 157km to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Upon your arrival at the park, you will engage in a morning game drive in the Kasenyi sector as you several of the wild game that calls this park their home.
With counts of wild game including the big four of the big five like lions, leopards, buffaloes and elephants, antelope species like waterbucks, Kobs, bushbucks among others, jackals among other wild game.
The stretch to Kasenyi and the Mweya peninsular offers you the best of these. You settle for lunch at Tembo restaurant in the Mweya peninsular after which you gather at the Mweya jetty to embark on a thrilling boat cruise on the 45km long Kazinga Channel. The cruise takes 2 hours with the possibility of encountering the aquatic species such as Nile Crocodiles and Hippos not forgetting other wild game that tends to congregate on the channel shores to consume water.
Retreat from the activity and embark on a mini-game drive experience along the Kasenyi drive as you transfer to the lodge for your dinner and an overnight stay.
The highlight of the day: a stunning Kazinga boat ride will leave you fascinated by the wildlife and beautiful views of the Kazinga plains and Rwenzori foothills.

Day 3 of the 5 Days Uganda Safari: Transfer to Bwindi National Park with an en-route game drive in the Ishasha sector
You will wake up early in the morning at 6:30 am for breakfast then get comfortable into our 4x4safari car and begin your 2-3 hours journey towards the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth Park. On arrival here, you will engage in a stunning game drive in this sector while you search for the tree-climbing lions that have made this park and particularly this sector a must-visit place for numerous African safari adventurers who are interested in having encounters with these rather unique lions as they usually find them taking a mid-morning rest while lodging their bodies in between tree branches.
After your game drive which lasts between 3-4 hours, transfer to a convenient lodge in this park sector for your lunch break which also helps you stretch your body for a while before you then embark on the remaining part of your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 of the 5 Days Uganda Safari: Engage in a gorilla trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for a relaxing boat cruise
Today, you will have an early morning breakfast served at 6:30 am comprising of a wide assortment of bites ranging from truly delicious tropical organic fruits to freshly baked confectionaries aimed at giving you an energy boost for the gorilla trekking in Bwindi experience ahead of you where you get to meet one of the gorilla families in this park for a full hour.
Depart from the lodge with your packed lunch and gather at the park centre where you will be welcomed by the park sector warden who will take you through the history of gorilla conservation in this particular park sector and Bwindi park in general. While here still you get to have a miniature cultural performance from the local Batwa people who will showcase their musical skills to you.
With your armed rangers in the lead and at the back, you embark on a trek with 7 other group members, searching for your allocated gorilla family. Along the way keep your eyes and ears on the lookout for several of the 350 bird species that are found in this park that might come your way, you will also be in a position to see some of the other primates here such as the Black and white colobus monkeys, L’hoest monkeys, different species of lizards such as the 3 horned chameleon and many more. On seeing the gorillas, count yourself among the lucky people who have managed to see these endangered mountain giants in their natural habitat.
You will be granted a full hour with these magical beings to watch them as they go about their daily lives and if you’re lucky you might get to see the young gorillas break the 7-meter rule as they get closure to you to have you incorporated in their games. After the full hour of contact with these gorillas, you will transfer back to the park centre where you get awarded a Gorilla tracking certificate for your tracking efforts. From here, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi where you get to relax from the rather a bit tedious gorilla trekking experience.
On arrival to this beautiful tropical gem of the Kigezi highland, you will be fascinated by the tranquil waters of this lake and the numerous islands that are dotted all over this lake hence leading to its famous name The Lake of a Thousand Islands.
Take a relaxing boat cruise on the waters of this lake as you are taken through the history behind several of these islands such as the Akampene island which is also known as the Punishment island where young girls who had got pregnant were thrown and left to die alone, the upside-down island which legend has it that it was cursed by an old lady when the young people who lived on that island refused to give her beer, she cursed it and it turned upside down hence having them all drowned. From this boat cruise, transfer to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5 of the 5 Days Uganda Safari: Transfer to Kampala with an en-route stop at the Equator point in Kayabwe
You will wake up at 6:00 am to the sweet melodies of birds that will be singing their hearts off to the dawn of a new day and this will fairly make you understand why this Lake is called Bunyonyi which means a Lake of many small birds as you will hear interjecting voices of many birds singing together in uniformity as they welcome the day. Grab yourself a cup of coffee or tea and choose from any of the available wide selection of confectionaries. After having breakfast, you will embark on the transfer to Kampala 420km and Entebbe 470km from Lake Bunyonyi.
During this 470km return journey to Entebbe, you will drive through the rolling hills of Mirama which will fascinate you given how the locals here have managed to tame these wildlands by cultivating along these steep slopes. Along the way back you will encounter many local men carrying farm produce on their bicycles headed towards the nearest local markets.
You will make an en-route stop for lunch at Igongo country hotel and just a few kilometres outside Mbarara town to enjoy a locally inspired lunch buffet and if you wish, you can try out the Ishabwe dish which is a local delicacy in this region.
From here another exciting road stop will be made at the Equator point in Kayabwe where you get to have an equator experience on how to differentiate the Northern from the Southern hemispheres and also have a photo moment. From here proceed with the rest of your journey back to Entebbe airport where your safari will come to an end as you catch your departure flight back home.
