Your tour driver guide shall pick you up from your hotel in Kigali at 7 am. You then set off for a 5-6 hour drive southwest to Nyungwe Forest. Pass rolling hills and beautiful scenery as you make your way to Rwanda’s Cultural Heritage Corridor.
Tour the traditional King’s Palace, a beautifully-crafted thatched dwelling. Learn about the royal style, smartness, and authority of pre-colonial Rwanda Kings. Meet the royal Inyambo cows on the site and herders who sing to them. Then, wander the halls of the simple, modern home of the country’s last king.
Proceed your drive south to the Ethnographic Museum in Huye for a broader look at Rwanda’s culture. You explore the seven galleries that highlight the architecture, textiles, hunting weapons, and more; designed, created, and used by the people. After that, enjoy a delicious lunch and continue to your lodge near Nyungwe National Park for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 2: Morning Chimpanzee Trekking & Afternoon Canopy Walk in Nyungwe Forest.
Day two of your 6 days Rwanda safari (primate trekking tour) begins with an early breakfast at the lodge. Next, transfer to the park’s visitor center to meet your excellent local park guide for a briefing.
At 5.30 am, begin your trek (2-5 hours) to see the chimps, and you’ll enjoy looking for other primates, birds, and animals along the way. Your expert guide will teach you about the habits and social activities of these endangered apes – our closest relatives in the animal world – and gain insights into current efforts to protect them.
Upon reaching Chimps, see them as they interact in their natural environment. You have a full hour to enjoy these precious creatures and you’re free to take as many photos as you wish! Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

Day 3: Colobus Monkey Tracking & Tea Plantation Visit.

These attractive old-world monkeys of Nyungwe National Park Forest live in huge troops of over 400 members – the largest known troop size throughout Africa. Tracking them is not tiresome. You hike through rolling hills and lush tea plantations to reach an isolated forest patch where you can see them jumping through the trees.
After an hour with them, return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, go for a tea plantation tour and interact with the locals who work there. Day 5: Do Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes & Relax At The Lodge.

Day 6: Do Golden Monkey Tracking & Transfer Back To Kigali
Enjoy an early breakfast and transfer to the park offices for a briefing. At 8 am, embark on a trek to encounter one of the troops of golden monkeys – the “little primates” of the Virungas. These beautiful, rare and endangered primates are endemic to the Virunga Mountains. They live in troops of up to 100 individuals on the lower slopes of the forest, making them easier to trek (1-3 hours).
They are wonderfully lively and entertaining to watch, leaping through the bamboo above your head! You spend up to an hour observing their charming antics.
