Tarangire is a lovely quiet park, off the beaten safari track, most famous for its mid-year dry-season game viewing when tens of thousands of animals gather at the life-giving Tarangire River, including some of the largest elephant herds in Tanzania. Its open savannah grasslands are dotted with towering baobabs – the bizarre ‘upside-down trees’, the largest trees in Africa.

Your day 3 of the 6 days safari in Tanzania tour starts with an early morning breakfast at the lodge. At around sunrise, embark on a morning game drive and follow that up later on with an afternoon game drive, as the animals tend to be more active in the cooler hours of the day.

Depending on wildlife movements and opportunities for sightings, the drive may continue through lunch and last all day. After an early breakfast, embark on a morning game drive inside Ngorongoro Crater. You’ll enjoy a bush picnic lunch on the 264km2 crater floor.

The Ngorongoro Crater sometimes referred to as “the eighth wonder of the world”, is best known for its natural beauty and abundance of diverse wildlife. Most of the animals are very relaxed in the presence of humans and vehicles, and the cloud-draped crater walls make for dramatic pictures and memories.

While a major attraction is of course the mammals, birding within the crater and on the top of the crater rim is very good and you have an opportunity to tick off a good number of special species such as Common Ostrich, Secretarybird, Kori Bustard, Grey Crowned Crane, Golden-winged Sunbirds, etc.

After a game drive, drive up the steep road out of the crater and embark on a 4-5 hour drive back to Arusha and Kilimanjaro International Airport for drop-off at the end of this fantastic 6 days safari in Tanzania tour.
