At 8 am we will embark on an unforgettable trek through the jungle alongside a park ranger to search for these great mountain apes.

The gorilla trekking safari Uganda might take you 2 – 8 hours to find the gentle giants depending on their movement. The trek/quest for these great apes is tiresome but very well rewarded by meeting, spending time with, and photographing these great gorillas which shares over 97% of our DNA.

A massive male silverback gorilla reaches out to greet a passing ranger guide he recognizes. Or he stops whatever he is doing—playing with a youngster, munching a celery stalk—to look thoughtfully into a visitor’s eyes as if trying to understand him, and the visitor returns the gaze, with feelings described variously as awe, mutual curiosity, and an almost mystical sense of connection between two beings that have traveled long related and finally divergent evolutionary paths.

After your one hour with the gorillas, return to the starting point and transfer to the starting point to embark on the transfer to Lake Bunyonyi driving through fascinating Kigezi Highlands which locals apply terracing method to cultivate their slopes deriving impressive scenic landscape.

We will wake up at 8.00 am for breakfast, after which we will embark on a wonderful boat ride on the serene waters of the magical Lake Bunyonyi to explore some of the lake’s 29 legendary islands such as – Bucuranuka (Upside down) Island which is believed to have buried a group of male revelers who refused to share their abundant stock of beer with an old lady who had embarked on a canoe to join them.

Unfortunately for the drinking party, the woman was a sorceress. She returned to her canoe, paddled a safe distance away, and then used her magical powers to overturn the island-drowning everybody in the party and then flipping it back the right way up as if nothing had happened.

You also visit the Akampane (Punishment) Island where unmarried girls who became pregnant would be exiled. Here they face one of two possible fates: Any man who did not own sufficient cows to pay for an untainted bride was permitted to fetch the disgraced girl from the island and make her his wife. Failing that, the girl would usually starve to death.

After Lake Bunyonyi islands exploration, you will have a lunch break then in the evening you will embark on a hike to the top of the world point here which takes you 2200meters above sea level and if you manage to get to the top your efforts will be rewarded with spectacular views of the entire Lake. 7 Days Uganda Tour GORILLA TREKKING TIPS

  •   Mountain gorillas sometimes nest far from the start of your gorilla trek, you should ready yourself for a long walk and drink plenty of water.
  •    Eating, drinking and smoking near the gorillas is forbidden – designated time and place will be communicated.
  •    Smoking while inside the forest is strictly forbidden
  •    Bwindi being a tropical forest, it can rain anytime so we encourage you to carry a rain poncho
  •    Waterproof walking shoes or hiking boots are essential.
  •    Gardening gloves for protection against stinging plants
  •    Long trousers and long-sleeved sweaters or shirts while in the forest to avoid insect stings.
  •    Photography is permitted, although you must not use flash
  •    Porters are available to help you carry your day pack for a small charge
  •    As you prepare to come for your Uganda gorilla adventure, please do some exercises so that you prepare your body for gorilla trekking which can last between 3-8 hours
  •    In case you can’t walk for a very long time, you shouldn’t really worry about not being able to do gorilla trekking because there are potters who can carry you throughout at a small extra cost.
  •    Carry your sunscreen lotion to keep your skin safe from the tropical heat & sun rays
