Welcome to Uganda! Upon landing at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly received by our company representative, who will help you get comfortable in our 4×4 safari car and then lead you on a journey to your already booked hotel as he takes you through some of the scenery that you will encounter on your way to the hotel and these include the history of Entebbe airport, which was the epicenter for a 90-minute military standoff between 100 Israeli defense commandos and the Ugandan army on July 4th, 1976. The Israeli forces had come to Entebbe in a rescue mission code-named Operation Entebbe.
The then Ugandan president, Idi Amin, ordered this mission to rescue Israeli hostages held here. You will have glimpses of Lake Victoria, the second biggest freshwater lake on the planet, as you continue to your hotel in Entebbe. Our company representative will make sure that you have comfortably finished settling into your hotel room, where you will get a chance to unwind from the jet lag of your flight to this Pearl of Africa as you get your body, mind, and soul ready to experience the best Uganda has to offer.

If your flight arrives early in Entebbe, you can opt to engage in any of the following activities:
If you wish to fly to Kibale, you will wake up at 8:00 am in the morning and have breakfast, and then you will be transferred to the airport to catch your flight to Kasese airstrip. This flight takes only between 1 and 1.5 hours to get there and when you land, you will be greeted by our guide, who will transfer you to the Amabere Caves in Fort Portal. If you choose to drive to Kibale, the journey is a wonderful adventure filled with fascinating road sightings during the 5-6 hour trip covering about 300 km. You will wake up very early in the morning at 7:00 am for breakfast before you kickstart this 300km journey.
Along this adventurous journey, expect to have several stops, such as one at the Mityana local market. This stop gives you an opportunity to take your taste buds on a culinary journey as you taste some of Uganda’s purely organic tropical fruits, which will tantalize your taste buds due to their absolute sweetness. You might also encounter Uganda’s unique KFC-style chicken, which consists of roasted chicken skewered on sticks. If you’re not a picky eater, this is your chance to experience the delicious, fire-grilled chicken.
You will drive past the tea estates of Fort Portal, which are spread over a beautiful, undulating landscape with endless scenic views, which makes it ideal to encounter. You will continue to Fort Portal town, where you will settle for lunch, after which you will connect to the Fort Portal Crater Lake Area. Upon your arrival, the local inhabitants greet you with a deep understanding of the place’s history.
You visit the Amabere g’ Nnyinamwiru caves—the breast-like features believed to have belonged to Nyinamwiru, the daughter of Bukuku, who was a self-enthroned King of the Bachwezi. The father alerted her that her baby, Ndahura, would inherit his throne, denying her the opportunity to breastfeed. The milk continues to flow out of Nyinamwiru’s breasts.
Retreat from this encounter and embark on the hike to the Fort Portal Crater Lake field, where you traverse the challenging slopes of Kyeganywa hill surrounded by a range of crater lakes and crater hollows, presenting one of the most beautiful scenic sites in Uganda. The top of Kyeganywa hill offers views of the Rwenzori Mountains on a clear day. Retreat from the activity and transfer to Kibale National Park, 26km from Fort Portal Town, for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

The morning of this day kicks off with a wonderful breakfast at 6:30 am that is aimed at energizing you for the chimpanzee trek that’s ahead of you. You will report to the park center in Kanyanchu, where you get to go through a short briefing about the entire chimpanzee habituation experience. The Chimpanzee habituation experience in Kibale National Park enables you to meet some of the chimpanzee troops that aren’t yet fully habituated for trekking as you join the rangers as well as researchers that are tasked with this responsibility of taming these chimpanzees and making them accustomed to human presence.
With a park ranger, take a jungle walk to find the chimps. You’ll be amazed at how similar we are to these wonderful apes, who laugh, hug, kiss, and care for the young. You will spend 4 hours in the company of these Chimpanzees. Besides the chimpanzees, you should also not miss out on the sightings of several other primates that call this forest home; these include the black and white colobus monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, and grey monkeys.
After the chimpanzee encounter, which lasts an hour of pure enjoyment, return to the park center, where your trekking efforts are rewarded with a Habituation certificate. From here, have a lunch break, then transfer to the Bigodi community, where you get to engage in a community encounter with the locals and see how they live their daily lives. You will watch them or even engage in some of their day-to-day activities, such as coffee picking and local brew making, as you undertake this community thriller. Take part in the coffee-making process right from the planting process, harvesting red ripe coffee berries, the sun-drying process, then coffee pounding and finally making your own cup of coffee that is freshly brewed from the coffee that’s grown by these locals.
Transfer to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4 of this Uganda safari commences with a laid-back morning breakfast, which is served at 8:00 am, before you embark on the transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which covers about 157 km and takes about 2–3 hours’ drive while enjoying the scenic views of the Rwenzori Mountains.
The highlight of this day will be a detour to the Ruboni village in Kasese on the foothills of Mount Rwenzori, where you will have a chance to explore the cultural traditions of the Bakonzo people that have lived on the foothills of Mount Rwenzori for centuries past.
This cultural visit allows you to see how these people live, and if you want, you can join them in their daily activities, like cooking. Talk to the eager local Bakonzo elders, who will take you on a literary journey as they tell you stories about their dramatic ancient past and how their culture has evolved.
This community walk will not disappoint because you can enjoy views of the elegant Baker and Portal peaks standing proudly above the horizon, as well as various bird and tree species along your way through the community. You can also take advantage of this community tour to buy some souvenirs for yourself from the art and craft center that is manned by local Bakonzo women ; this would be a great way to support these ladies, who earn money from the sale of these crafts.
You retreat from the encounter and continue on the drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park for an afternoon game drive exploring the impressive landscapes of Queen with the beautiful views of the savannah at the sunset, after which you retire for relaxation dinner and overnight
Highlight of the day: the day’s highlight will be an encounter with the Bakonzo people in Kasese

You will wake up for an early morning breakfast at 6:30 am, after which you get to engage in a morning game drive as you explore more of the Kasenyi sector of this park, which is filled with a wide variety of animals, such as four out of the five big mammals, which include lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, large herds of African bush elephants, Topis, and many other antelope species.
Retreat from the encounter, which tends to take 2–5 hours, and settle for lunch, after which you gather at Mweya jetty for an afternoon Kazinga Channel boat cruise departing at 2 pm. You will have an afternoon 2-hour boat cruise running along the Kazinga channel, a 40 km long channel that connects Lake George to Lake Edward.
This cruise offers you an opportunity to see at close range the highest concentration of water-submerged Hippos, surrounded by over 550 species of migrant and resident birds, plus crocodiles drinking and resting at water edges. The cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. You retreat from the boat cruise and embark on an evening game drive along the Channel track to observe wildlife during their active evening hours.
Continue to the lodge for an overnight stay.

You will wake up early in the morning at 6:30 am for breakfast, then get comfortable in the safari car and begin your 2-3 hour journey towards the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth Park. Upon arrival, you’ll embark on an exciting game drive to spot the famous tree-climbing lions, making this park a must-visit for many African safari enthusiasts.
After your game drive, which lasts between 3 and 4 hours, transfer to a convenient lodge in this park sector for your lunch break, which also helps you stretch your body for a while before you embark on the remaining part of your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Arrive in the evening for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.
A sighting of the tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector logged in between tree branches is the highlight of the day

Drive distance & time: Approx. 140-240 or 6-8 hours
On this day, you will have an early morning breakfast served at 6:30 am comprising a wide assortment of bites ranging from truly delicious tropical organic fruits and confectionaries to give an energy boost for the gorilla trekking in Bwindi experience ahead of you, where you get to meet one of the gorilla families in this park for a full hour. Depart from the lodge with your packed lunch and gather at the park center, where you will be welcomed by the park sector warden, who will take you through the history of gorilla conservation in this particular park sector and Bwindi park in general.
While here, you still get to have a miniature cultural performance from the local Batwa people, who will showcase their musical skills to you. With your armed ranger in the lead, embark on a trek, searching for your allocated gorilla family, which is under habituation. Once you spot the gorillas’ nests, you will start tracking them, following the trails they have left behind until you locate them. Once you spot the gorillas, you will observe them as they go about their daily lives, but you should maintain a safe distance to ensure your safety, as these gorillas are not yet fully accustomed to human presence.
The habituation process takes 4 hours, starting from the moment you discover the gorillas’ nests. After 4 hours with these gorillas, you will transfer back to the park center, where you will be awarded a gorilla tracking certificate for your efforts. From here, you will embark on a transfer to your lodge at Lake Bunyonyi for dinner and an overnight stay.
Having a close moment with the majestic gorillas surely makes this day a one to remember for a very long time in your lifetime

This day is fairly relaxed, as you get to wake up a little bit late at 7:00 am for breakfast and indulge yourself in a relaxing boat cruise while visiting the main Islands of Lake Bunyonyi. You explore the Bucuranuka (upside down) island, which is believed to have buried people alive after they refused to offer local beer to an old woman, and she cursed the island to turn upside down and bury its inhabitants.
Visit the Akampane (Punishment) Island, where the girls with unwanted premarital pregnancies would be dumped to die of hunger or as they try to swim back to the mainland. After this boat ride, depending on where your safari ends, you will now transfer to that endpoint, which can either be Kampala or Kigali. If your safari ends in Kigali, your transfer is a little bit shorter, as Kigali lies only 150 km, or a 4 to 5-hour drive, from Lake Bunyonyi.
If your safari ends in Kampala, then you’re set for a thrilling 450km or 7-8 hour journey that is filled with numerous exciting road stops along the way. During this 470km return journey to Entebbe, you will drive through the rolling hills of Mirama, which will fascinate you given how the locals here have managed to tame these wildlands by cultivating along these steep slopes. Along the way back, you will encounter many local men carrying farm produce on their bicycles headed towards the nearest local markets.
You will make an en-route stop for lunch at the Igongo Country Hotel, just a few kilometers outside Mbarara town, to enjoy a locally inspired lunch buffet. If you wish, you can try out the Ishabwe dish, which is a local delicacy in this region. Following your indulgent lunch buffet, you will head to Biharwe village to visit the AD solar eclipse monument. If you wish, you can hike up the hill on which this monument is set and enjoy spectacular views of the undulating Ankole plains, which form a lovely background for you to take photos.
While here, the guide will take you through the intriguing history behind this solar eclipse and how it managed to greatly change the destiny of three powerful ancient kingdoms all at once. From here, proceed to the equator, where another stop will be made to allow you to enjoy the experience of living in two separate halves of the world at the same time, as this is the line that divides the earth into two equal halves! Take numerous photos of yourself during your visit to immortalize this enchanting moment.
Undertake a water experience that teaches how to differentiate the northern from the Southern hemisphere so you can always identify which hemisphere you’re in, regardless of where you are! Finally, you will continue your journey back to Entebbe airport, where your safari will conclude as you catch your departure flight home.
