Day 1 of the 8 Days Safari in Uganda: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary en route

This Uganda safari expedition kicks off with an early morning breakfast at your hotel at 6:00 am. At 6:30 am our experienced driver-guide will pick you up using one of our comfortable 4×4 safari cars and when you get to settle in, you will begin your road transfer from Kampala to Kitgum town. This road adventure is an 8-9 hours’ drive covering 400km, this road trip gives you a glimpse into the life of ordinary Ugandans which you meet along the way while they engage in activities such as tilling their gardens, men and women riding bicycles loaded with usual farm produce heading towards next local markets to trade. You will also engage in exciting roadside market stops in Kasana Luwero which gives you an opportunity to take your taste buds on a culinary journey as you taste some Uganda’s purely organic tropical fruits that will tantalize your taste buds due to their absolute sweetness and also a chance to interact with the locals as you engage in a spectacular Africa shopping experience where you get to a chance to haggle for the best price bargain as shop a selected few items courtesy of the company. When you make it to Nakasongola, you will engage in a rhino trekking session at Ziwa rhino sanctuary and this gives you a chance to meet one of the 5 big five Africa game which are only found in this sanctuary in Uganda. When you make it to the Rhino sanctuary of Ziwa in Nakasongola, you will engage in a rhino trekking session. On the second of this spectacular Uganda safari tour, you will wake up early in the morning at 7:00 am and have your breakfast then check out of the lodge to embark on a 4-5 hours drive to Kidepo Valley National Park. Upon your arrival to Kidepo Valley park, you will transfer to your lodge where you will have your lunch after which you get to engage in an evening game drive. This game drive will give you an insight into what makes Kidepo such as a favourite place for off-path Africa safari adventures as you will be welcomed by numerous wild animals that call this semi-desert to park their home which include the Rothschild giraffes, the plain zebras, Cape buffaloes, African bush elephants and many others. Day 3 of the 8 Days Safari in Uganda: Engage in a morning game drive and an evening cultural encounter

This day gets you on an exploration journey of the savanna plains of Kidepo Valley National Park. You will wake quite early at 6:30 am for a nicely crafted breakfast then begin your morning game drive experience as you explore the rolling savannah landscapes. This activity which commences at 7 takes you to the haven of wild game in Kidepo Valley which is the Narus Valley where you encounter a wide variety of wild animals and in their plenty as they usually come to the Narus river in this valley to have a drink and graze since this place always has fresh pasture and a permanent water source.  While here, you will encounter the biggest and largest buffalo herds you will ever find in Africa as this park has a been recognized by CNN for having the best buffalo herds in the whole of Africa. Other animals that you won’t definitely miss seeing here include African bush elephants, Plain zebras, Jackson Hartebeest, Rothchild giraffes, and if you’re lucky you can also encounter the top predators of this park which include Lions, Leopards and the rare Cheetahs. After about 2-4 hours of exploring Kidepo valley you will return to the lodge for lunch and relax as you escape the incessant semi-desert heat of Kidepo, In the evening when the sun has slowed down its intensity, you will visit Lorukul village and have yourself a fascinating cultural encounter with the Karamojong people. During this experience, you will have an opportunity to visit the Manyata settlements where these people live which will blow your mind away by the nature of their size which is quite small and their entrances that can only be accessed while squirting. You will engage in milking or watering the cows if they herdsmen have brought back the cows by the time of your visit. Climax your visit to the community with a thrilling Karimajong performance and dance to this high jumping and phot stumping African dance. At then of the performance, you can buy a souvenir gift from this community as a way of supporting it and then return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4 of the 8 Days Safari in Uganda: Transfer to Murchison falls National for an evening game drive en-route

On this 4th day of this Uganda tour, you will transfer from Kidepo Valley to Murchison falls Park, you will wake up early in the morning at 7:00 am and have your breakfast. You will commence your 7-8 hour drive to Murchison falls National Park covering about 400km. This journey will take you through the Northern districts of Uganda such as Kitgum and Gulu which were heavily ravaged by the past war which was perpetrated by the Lord Resistance Army in the past 2 decades. In some places, you will be able to see some of the scars left by this war as some of the settlements were abandoned by their owners never to return to them. You will arrive in Murchison falls in the late evening and you will drive to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5 of the 8 Days Safari in Uganda: Engage in a Morning game drive and an afternoon boat cruise

On this day, you have an opportunity to explore Murchison Falls park wilderness to the fullest as you engage in a thrilling game drive and a fascinating boat cruise. The day will also start very early in the morning at 6:00 am with a breakfast buffet then you will get into the safari car for a thrilling a game drive on the northern banks of the park. This park sector is gifted with a wide variety of wild animals such as the Rothschild giraffes, Cape buffaloes, Large herds of Elephants, bushbucks, bohor reedbucks, oribi, waterbucks, and if lucky you might get a chance to also encounter the top predators of this park which are the mighty lions and the stocky leopards. After 3-4 hours of epic adventures in the Northern sector take a break and enjoy a picnic lunch. Right after your lunch, embark on a boat cruise up the stream of the Victoria Nile and to the base of the falls. On this 17-kilometre cruise, you have possibilities of sighting crocodiles and hippos along with elephants, waterbucks and Uganda Kobs drinking water on the riverside. Blessed with a variety of bird species such as the pelican bee-eaters, Egyptian geese, Hornbills, goliath herons, the rare shoebill, stork kingfishers and cormorants. As you draw close to the falls, you will be welcomed by a thunderous roar of the mighty Murchison falls, which you will watch from a safe distance as they tumble from a 43-meter fall. Upon arriving on the bottom of the falls, you will embark on the hike to the top of the world’s powerful waterfall. The Nile River which is the longest in the world forces itself to pass through a less than 8m ravine before falling 43m below to what has been termed the devil’s cauldron forming a plume of spray marked by a thunderous roar and trademark rainbow. During the hike, you will enjoy the sounds of the Nile as it splashes its head on the impermeable rocks that have stood in its way for centuries past. Retreat from the activity and connect to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

The sixth day is committed to having you transfer from Murchison falls park to Kibale National Park. This day begins early in the morning at 6:00 am in order to enable you to cross with the 7:00 am boat then begin your thrilling road drive through the countryside’s of Uganda as you proceed to your next destination Kibale national park. This drive takes you through numerous villages giving you an insight into how ordinary Ugandan live. Still, on this journey, look out for sightings of men and women engaging in economic activities such as gardening, you might also encounter women carrying their little one’s monkey style as they strap them behind their backs. This drive takes about 7-8 hours covering a distance of about 320km. You will have a lunch break in one of the finest restaurant in Fort portal town before you finally proceed to Kibale National park.

Day 7 of the 8 Days Safari in Uganda: Do Chimpanzee trekking in the morning and afternoon Bigodi wetland walk

The morning of this day kicks off with an amazing breakfast that is aimed at energizing for the thrilling chimpanzee trek that’s ahead of you. You will be transferred by your guide to the park centre in Kanyanchu where you get to go through a short briefing about the entire chimpanzee trekking experience. From here in a company of park ranger, embark on jungle walk as you search for these great humans of the wild the chimpanzees and the highlight of the day will be when you get to meet these exciting creatures you will be wowed by how much in common we do have with these great apes as they laugh, hug and kiss just like humans do and also look after the young ones. Besides the chimpanzees, you should also not miss out on the sightings of several other primates that call this forest their home and these include the black and white colobus monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, Grey monkeys. After the chimpanzee encounter which lasts an hour of pure enjoyment return to the park centre where your trekking efforts are rewarded with a trekking certificate. From here, have a lunch break then transfer to Bigodi community where you get to engage in a community encounter with the locals and see how they live their daily lives, watch them or even engage in some of their days to day activities such coffee picking, local brew making and as you undertake this community thriller, you will take part in the coffee-making process right from planting process, harvesting red ripe coffee berries, sun drying process, then coffee pounding and finally making your own cup of coffee that is freshly brewed from the coffee that’s grown by these locals. After this really exciting cultural mash-up you’ve just had, you will transfer back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8 of the 8 Days Safari in Uganda: You will visit the Amabere caves and transfer back to Kampala

This day is dedicated to having you transfer from Kibale to Kampala. You will wake up at 7:00 am for breakfast,. You will drive to Fort Portal which is 26km away from a 20 minutes’ drive from Kibale and visit the Amabere g’ Nnyinamwiru caves – the breast like features believed to have belonged to Nyinamwiru the daughter of Bukuku who was a self-enthroned King of the Bachwezi. She was denied the opportunity to breastfeed her baby Ndahura as the father had been alerted that the child will take over his throne. The milk continues to flow out of Nyinamwiru’s breasts. Retreat from this encounter and embark on the hike to the Fort Portal Crater Lake field where you traverse the challenging slopes of Kyeganywa hill surrounded by a range of crater lakes and crater hollows presenting one of the beautiful scenic sites in Uganda. At the end of this activity, you will settle down for lunch in one of the finest restaurants in this town then you will transfer back to Kampala. Retreat from the caves and embark on the hike to the Fort Portal Crater Lake field. The hike involves a relative steady walk through undulating hills past the crater hollows until you rich the highest Kyeganywa hill surrounded by the magical views of a range of explosion crater some of which have been filled by water to form lakes and others have been left empty. The Lakes include; Saaka, Kigere among others. The top of the hill offers impressive scenic views of the area and the Rwenzori Mountains at a distance. From this activity, you will make a stop in Fort portal town to have lunch at one of the best restaurants here before you embark on a return journey to Kampala. The journey from Kibale to Kampala is an awesome adventure one which is filled with lots of fascinating road sightings during this 5-6-hour journey covering about 300km. As you embark on this 300km journey expect to have several stops such as one at the Mityana local market and this which gives you an opportunity to take your taste buds on a culinary journey as you taste some Uganda’s purely organic tropical fruits that will tantalize your taste buds due to their absolute sweetness. Other things that may come your way is Uganda’s very own KFC version of chicken and this will be a roasted chicken skewered on sticks and if you aren’t a fussy feeder, this is your moment to have a taste of this fire-grilled finger lingering goodness. The journey ends with your arrival back to Kampala after you have checked into your hotel where you will have your dinner from and an overnight stay as well.

8 Days Safari in Uganda – CHIMPANZEE TREKKING TIPS 

  •   Eating, drinking and smoking near the Chimpanzees is forbidden
  •   Kibale being a tropical forest, it can rain anytime so we encourage you to carry a rain poncho
  •   Waterproof walking shoes or hiking boots are essential.
  •   Gardening gloves for protection against stinging plants
  •   Long trousers and long-sleeved sweaters or shirts while in the forest to avoid insect stings.
  •   Photography is permitted, although you must not use flash
  •   As you prepare to come for your Uganda chimpanzee adventure, please do some exercises so that you prepare your body for gorilla trekking which can last between 2-5 hours
  •   Carry your sunscreen lotion to keep your skin safe from the tropical heat & sun rays
  •   When you get to the Chimpanzees, don’t make noise because this agitates the Chimpanzees
