8 Days Uganda Fishing Safari – DETAILED SAFARI ITINERARY

Day 1 Of The 8 Days Uganda Fishing Safari: Arrive In Uganda Via Entebbe International Airport And Transfer To A Hotel.

Arrive in Uganda following the flight from your respective country of origin. You land at Entebbe International Airport, located on a magical peninsula in Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake. You’re met by a Prime Uganda Safaris representative and transferred to your accommodation for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Depending on your arrival time, a half-day trip to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary can be arranged at an additional cost.  This could also be arranged at the end of your safari if you prefer. Other options include a tour to the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, where there are a variety of visitors’ programs including behind the scenes ‘work’ with the animals or a ‘chimpanzee close up’, a luxury boat cruise on Lake Victoria, a canoe ride in Mabamba Swamp in search of the shoebills or a leisurely walk in Entebbe Botanical Gardens

Day 2 Of The 8 Days Uganda Fishing Safari: Do Fishing On Lake Victoria From The Mainland.

After breakfast at around 8.00 am from your place of stay, you connect to the Entebbe dock close to the Uganda Wildlife Education Center and then get to the boats to embark on the fishing experience. You can opt to take a half-day fishing encounter commencing both at 9.00 am returning at 12:30 pm and 1.00 pm returning at 5.00 pm. However, you can embark on the full-day experience starting at 9.00 am and ending at 5.00 pm.

You connect to the second largest freshwater lake in Africa and the largest lake on the African continent enjoying the soothing water and the moist air before you start the hunt for fish. The fishing is conducted around the local Islands which are approximately 45 minutes from Entebbe. The selection of fishing areas depends on how the fish are biting and the weather.

At some points of the year, Lake Victoria is at times rough featuring large swells, and as a result, fishing is conducted in the sheltered bays. During the fishing experience, you are served a picnic lunch along with cool beers, mineral water, or sodas not forgetting coffee and tea. The anglers can carry along extra drinks if they so wish. This marks your first day of 5 days of Uganda Fishing Safari to Lake Victoria and the Ssese Islands.

Day 3 Of The 8 Days Uganda Fishing Safari: Transfer By Ferry From Nakiwogo Landing Site.

You enjoy a relaxed breakfast at around 8.30 am. You’ll then be picked up from your hotel in the mid-morning and driven to Entebbe pier where you’ll board the ferry to Ssesse at Lutoboka. The ferry to Ssesse departs Nakiwogo landing site in Entebbe only once a day at 2 pm arriving at Lutoboka Bay in Bugala Island at 5 pm which is about a 3-hour trip.

Ssesse Island is one of the most interesting places for relaxation. On the ferry, you will be able to take pictures of Lake Victoria, fishermen and you will get to see many islands as you get closer to Kalangala. You will also enjoy the breeze of the lake; see different bird species and so many other experiences. On landing, you’ll connect to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 4 Of The 8 Days Uganda Fishing Safari: Whole Day Fishing In Ssesse Islands.

After breakfast at around 7.00 am, you embark on the fishing encounter in the Ssese Islands exploring the magical fish. You get to the boat and go along with the experienced guides offering you a whole day experience that can be explored both in the morning and in the afternoon.

It is magical to get the big catch and relax on the endless sandy beaches or take a swim in the soothing fresh waters that are endless in views being the second on the entire globe. The Nile Perch remains your aquatic fish giant. Retire for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 5 Of The 8 Days Uganda Fishing Safari: Ferry Transfer From Ssesse Islands Back To Entebbe.

Have an early breakfast at around 6.30 am, check out of the hotel. Drive to Lutoboka Bay to take the ferry back to Entebbe. The ferry departs at 8.00 am from Bugala Island and arrives in Entebbe at 11.00 am. Upon arrival, you drive to Kampala for sightseeing. Retire for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 6 Of The 8 Days Uganda Fishing Safari: Drive To Murchison Falls National Park And Do An Afternoon Game Drive.

Have an early breakfast at around 6.30 am and then embark on a 311km (5-6 hours) drive northwest to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest national park, blessed with the world’s longest river, the world’s most powerful waterfalls, and a collection of classic African wildlife including over 451 bird species, 76 species of mammals, four of the Big Five and the world’s largest population of the Rothschild’s giraffes.

On the way to Murchison, drive through the impressive sceneries of central Uganda crossing the Kafu River and the mighty Karuma Bridge on the River Nile. You arrive at Paraa Jetty, cross the Nile River by ferry and connect to the lodge for relaxation and lunch.

At around 4 pm, you embark on an evening game drive in the northern section of the park that offers you rewarding wildlife encounters including lions, leopards, African elephants, Cape buffalos, Rothschild’s buffalos, Jackson’s hartebeests, Defassa waterbucks, Bushbucks, Common warthogs, Uganda Kobs, Oribis and many others.

The extensive savannah landscape of Murchison’s northern sector, dotted with impressive stands of Borassus palm is an attraction in its self. Retire for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 7 Of The 8 Days Uganda Fishing Safari: Do Whole Day Fishing Along The Nile River And At The Bottom Of Murchison Falls.

After breakfast at around 8.30 am, you get on the boat along with the expert guides and begin the fishing encounter along the Nile upstream.

The area has potential for catching the Nile Perch, the Catfish types, and the Tigerfish. During the fishing encounter, you may not dodge the sights of Hippos, the Nile Crocodiles, and water birds like the Shoebill stork which is the highly sought-after bird in Uganda. You carry along with the packed lunch and fish to the bottom of the Murchison falls where the Nile Perch is easily landed as it is still unstable following the squeezing of the Nile River narrow gorge.

The record largest Nile Perch in Murchison was 114kg, caught by Kevin Nicholson in 2013, just eclipsing Tim Smith’s 113kg catch in 2009, but far heavier than the previous official record of 73kg, set by C D Mardach in 1959. After this incredibly exciting activity, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 8 Of The 8 Days Uganda Fishing Safari: Do A Morning Game Drive In Murchison, Track Rhions And Transfer Back To Kampala.

After breakfast at 6.30 am, undertake on 3-4 hours game drive in the northern sector, a very scenic section of the park with rolling savanna grassland dotted with impressive stands of Borassus palms, acacia trees, riverine woodland, a variety of mammals, and unique birds. Search for Elephants, Lions, Buffalos, Leopards, Rothschild’s Giraffes, Hyenas, Patas Monkeys, Oribi, Warthogs, Hartebeests, Waterbucks, Hippos, Uganda Kobs and much more. Also look out for special bird species including Shoebills, Abyssinian ground hornbills, Secretary birds, Goliath Herons, Squacco herons, Grey-crowned cranes, Saddle-billed stork, Denham’s bustard, Kingfishers to name just a few.

Retreat from the activity and then drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino tracking after which you will embark on a 311km drive back to Kampala.

Any world traveler interested in a Uganda safari or a Uganda tour is required to be in possession of a valid passport issued by the respective country of origin. Uganda immigration Authorities require that the passport copy should be 6 months valid and must have at least one page where the stamp can be put.

Regarding the citizens of the East African Community, it can be noted that they do not require passports to enter Uganda. They can travel under the admissible temporary document and use their national identification cards for identification.
