Our 9-day Nile Perch fishing safari in Uganda is a 9-day Uganda sport fishing trip featuring the legendary Nile Perch as the icon of the trip. This magical nine-day trip takes us to Lake Victoria, the world’s largest tropical lake (approximately 68,800 km in size), and Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest national park (3,840 km), blessed with the world’s longest river (Nile), the world’s most powerful waterfalls, and fantastic wildlife.
On this 9-day Uganda Nile Perch fishing Safari, we’ll also hunt for other fantastic fish species such as Tilapia, Catfish and Tigerfish while enjoying the stunning scenery and amazing game viewing: Lions, Elephants, Buffalos, Leopards, Rothschild’s giraffes, Hippos, Nile crocodiles, hartebeests, Waterbucks, Bushbucks, Warthogs, Uganda kobs and Oribi plus much more, as the checklist of mammals reaches 76 species. You will also see several of the park’s 451 bird species, including the incredible Shoebill.
We’ll start off with a thrilling boat cruise on Lake Victoria to Pineapple Bay, Bulago Island, which is one of several scenic islands in this wonderful lake, marked with remarkable sandy beaches, beautiful palm trees, savannahs, and forested landscapes. From here, we’ll undertake a whole sport fishing adventure on Lake Victoria. We will then proceed to the Chobe and Paraa areas in Murchison Falls National Park, ultimately arriving at Arra Fishing Village in Adjumani, situated along the Albert Nile.
The record for rod and line in Murchison was established by Kevin Nicholson in 2013. The mammoth catch, weighing 114kg, not only eclipsed Tim Smith’s 2009 catch of 113kg but also surpassed the previous official record of 73kg set by C. D. Mardach in 1959. Day 1: Arrive in Uganda via Entebbe Airport and undertake a boat trip on Lake Victoria to Pineapple Bay on Bulago Island.

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport following your flight from the country of origin, and upon arrival, you team up with the driver guide and embark on the transfer to the landing site, where you board the 45-minute boat cruise on the fresh waters of Lake Victoria to the Luxury Pineapple Bay, situated on the magical Bulago Island, which is among the great tropical islands of Uganda, marked with remarkable sandy beaches, beautiful palm trees, savannah, and forested landscapes.
You can opt to spend the rest of the day enjoying the thrilling waters presented in an Olympic-size swimming pool as you take breaks to sunbathe or take a nature walk on the Island to explore birds, butterflies, or monkeys or do some simple fishing. Settle for the thrilling dinner and overnight.

After a hearty breakfast at 7.00 am, we embark on the fishing encounter in the company of an expert guide on a motorized boat, with the hope of catching various fish, including the mighty Nile Perch, one of the largest freshwater fish in the world, weighing over 100kg. The fascinating experience will not only arise from the fishing encounter but also from the surrounding scenery that marks the area, including the series of islands, the count of fishermen, the expanse of water, and the water birds.

After enjoying a leisurely breakfast at approximately 9 am, you embark on a 45-minute journey back to the mainland. Upon reaching the mainland, you’ll find an extended Luxury Safari land cruiser waiting for you to embark on a 351-kilometer (6-hour) drive northwest to the Chobe sector in Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest national park, blessed with the world’s longest river, the world’s most powerful waterfalls, and a collection of classic African wildlife, including over 451 bird species and 76 species of mammals.
On the way, we’ll drive through the impressive sceneries of central Uganda, crossing the Kafu River and the mighty Karuma Bridge on the River Nile. We’ll arrive at Chobe Safari Lodge, check in to any of its lush units as previously selected and spend the rest of the day swimming in the three-level swimming pool overlooking the flowing Nile River as it roars past the small rapids that stand along its way. You can also opt to take a sunset fishing encounter on the riverbanks before resting for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast at 8.00 am, we embark on the fishing activity along the Nile River in the company of expert guides, exploring the wonders of the historic Nile, which is not a mere stream but the world’s longest River featuring great fish species that it generates from the gigantic Lake Victoria.
Fishing in the Chobe sector dates back to the old days when it stood as a great spot for fishing in the region of East Africa. The reconstruction of Chobe Safari Lodge aims to revive ancient memories and restore the site’s prominence in terms of its fishing potential. You retreat for a stimulating lunch at the lodge. You can undertake an evening fishing adventure on the river until sunset. We endorse a strict catch-and-release policy to protect and conserve fish populations.

After breakfast around 7.00 am, start your journey to the Paraa area. A drive through the park offers you magical views of wild game, including the Big Four of the Big Five, such as lions, Cape Buffaloes, African elephants, and leopards. Don’t miss other sights such as Rothschild Giraffes, Uganda Kobs, Oribis, and Jackson’s Hartebeest. Murchison Falls National Park is also a rich haven for birds.
You settle at Paraa Safari Lodge for lunch and relaxation overlooking the calm Nile River as it flows to the delta area. In the evening, you do another game drive to explore the wild game of Murchison in detail. The sunset views of the savannah with patches of borassus palm trees are rewarding to encounter.

After breakfast at around 7.00 am, you’ll get on the boat along with the expert guides and begin the fishing encounter along the Nile upstream. The area has potential for catching the Nile Perch, the Catfish types and the Tigerfish. During the fishing encounter, you may not dodge the sights of Hippos, Nile Crocodiles and water birds like the Shoebill stork which is the highly sought-after bird in Uganda.
You carry along the packed lunch and fish to the bottom of Murchison Falls, where the Nile Perch is easily landed, as it is still unstable following the squeezing of the Nile River’s narrow gorge. The Murchison fall is arguably the world’s most powerful! It is not very big or wide like some you may have seen before but think of the world’s longest river, which is 50 meters wide, squeezing through a narrow cleft of up to 7 meters and fall 45 meters down.
After this incredibly exciting activity, we will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

After breakfast at around 8.00 am, we’ll embark on the transfer to Adjumani, to the north of the park, about a 4-hour transfer. You drive through the impressive landscapes of northern Uganda with vast open savannah and communal traditional settlements.
You arrive at the Araa fishing lodge and settle in for lunch. Arra presents a calm environment on the Albert arm of the Nile. You spend the rest of the day relaxing at the lodge or doing simple fishing on the Nile banks before retiring for dinner and overnight.
