Day 1: Engage in a Kigali city tour drive and transfer to Akagera National Park.
Welcome to Rwanda! On this day you will be picked up by your Prime safaris driver guide from your hotel at 8:00 am. You will kick start this incredible Rwanda Uganda safari with a stunning Kigali city tour drive which gives you a unique opportunity to explore the sights and sounds of Kigali as you traverse this pristine and clean capital of Rwanda.
Some of the major attraction sites you will visit during your city tour include the Kigali genocide memorial- A visit to this memorial gives you a unique insight into what really happened during the darkest 90 days of Rwanda during the 1994 Rwanda genocide in which over 1 million people lost their lives during a bloody massacre between the Hutus and the Tutsis- the 2 major tribes in Rwanda.
From the genocide memorial, make your way to the Kimironko market center and encounter day-to-day local Rwandese try to earn a living by selling a wide variety of stuff ranging from crafts, food items, and clothes. This will be a good place for you to buy a souvenir to commemorate this trip. From here, your next stop will be at the Inema art gallery.
While here you will have a chance to meet local artists who try to inspire this nation through crafting art pieces with a big story and grand vision message to tell. At the end of this experiential city tour, you will embark on your 100km or 2-3 hours drive to Akagera Game Park.
This drive will take you through Rwanda’s countryside and as you progress you will realize a change from Rwanda’s notorious rolling hills to the expansive savanna plains of Akagera which are home to a wide variety of savanna wild animals.

Day 2: Enjoy a morning game drive and a sunset boat cruise on Lake Ihema
The day of your Uganda Rwanda safari is dedicated to having you explore the enchanted plains of Akagera as you will get to engage in a spectacular morning game drive experience. During this game derive you will come to realize that the habitats of this park are different and thus, every stretch comes with a unique landscape which in turn gives you an insight into the diverse wildlife that exists here which include sightings;-

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Park in Uganda and visit a Batwa pygmies village
You will wake up at 7:00 for breakfast after which you check out of the lodge and embark on a 270km or 5-6 hours journey from Akagera to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. During this road trip, you surely cross from the savanna plains of Akagera which are actually an extension of the Tanzania wilderness plains into the rolling hills of Rwanda that have this country is referred to as the Land of a thousand hills.
After crossing the Rwandan border to Uganda this journey becomes an interesting one as you get to have an opportunity to experience an African massage since the remaining part of the journey is done on murram or dirt roads.
After a drive of about 4-5 hours, you will be welcomed to the lodge by warm, friendly, and all smiling Ugandan faces who will usher you into your room. Lunch will be served from an array of continental dishes prepared from freshly handpicked ingredients.
After having lunch you will engage in a visit to the local Batwa community to have a first-hand experience of how this small community of people has managed to live side by side with these giant beasts for over 1000 years. while here you will see how these guys used to hunt and use some of the trees and leaves from these forests to treat several of their ailments.

Day 4: Engage in a gorilla trekking experience and a free afternoon for an optional activity
Today, you will have an early morning breakfast served at 6:30 am comprising of a wide assortment of bites ranging from truly delicious tropical organic fruits to freshly baked confectionaries aimed at giving you an energy boost for the gorilla trekking in Bwindi experience ahead of you where you get to meet one of the gorilla families in this park for a full hour.
Depart from the lodge with your packed lunch and gather at the park center where you will be welcomed by the park sector warden who will take you through the history of gorilla conservation in this particular park sector and Bwindi park in general. While here still you get to have a miniature cultural performance from the local Batwa people who will showcase their musical skills to you.
With your armed ranger in the lead, embark on a trek, searching for your allocated gorilla family. During your search for the gorillas, keep your eyes and ears on the lookout for several of the 350 bird species that are found in this park that might come your way, you will also be in a position to see some of the other primates here such as the Black and white colobus monkeys, L’hoest monkeys, different species of lizards such as the 3 horned chameleon and many more.
On seeing the gorillas, count yourself among the lucky people who have managed to see these endangered mountain giants in their natural habitat. You will be granted a full hour with these magical beings to watch them as they go about their daily lives and if you’re lucky you might get to see the young gorillas break the 7-meter rule as they get closure to you to have you incorporated in their games.
After the full hour of contact with these gorillas, you will transfer back to the park center where you get awarded a Gorilla tracking certificate for your tracking efforts. In the afternoon, you can decide to relax at the lodge or engage in any other optional activities here such as birding as you get on a search for several of the 350 bird species that exist here or taking a leisure nature walk as you explore more of this pristine tropical forest.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and engage in a game drive in the Ishasha.
Day 5 is dedicated to getting you to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This day begins early in the morning as you wake up to the sweet melodies of numerous birds as they sing their hearts of the dawn of a new day on the shores of this incredible highland lake. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 am in order to allow you to commence your 6-7 hour journey to Queen Elizabeth Park on time.
As you transfer to Queen, you will engage in a game drive experience in the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park named Ishasha which is well known for its tree-climbing lions. The Ishasha sector presents a remarkable encounter with the unique tree-climbing lions which are only existing in two spots in the whole world with the Ishasha sector having the best viewing opportunities.
After this search for the tree-climbing lions, you will proceed with the remaining part of your journey to Queen Elizabeth park which ends with your arrival to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
A sighting of the tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector lodged in between tree branches will be the highlight of the day

Day 6: Morning game drive, Kazinga Channel boat, and mini evening game drive
After breakfast having breakfast at 6:00 am, you will start off the day with a spectacular game drive to the savannah landscapes of Queen Elizabeth National Park for a 3 – 4-hour morning game drive exploring the park’s rolling savannah landscapes dotted with counts of wild game including the big four of the big five like lions, leopards, buffaloes, and elephants, antelope species like waterbucks, Kobs, bushbucks among others, jackals among other wild game.
The stretch to Kasenyi and the Mweya peninsular offers you the best of these.
You settle for lunch at Tembo restaurant in the Mweya peninsular after which you gather at the Mweya jetty to embark on a thrilling boat cruise on the 45km long Kazinga Channel. The cruise takes 2 hours with the possibility of encountering aquatic species such as Nile Crocodiles and Hippos not forgetting other wild game that tends to congregate on the channel shores to consume water.
Retreat from the activity and do a game drive along the channel track with in the Mweya peninsular to explore more games. Retire for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 7: Do Chimpanzee trekking in Kalinzu forest and have a free evening for relaxation.
The morning of this day kicks off with an amazing breakfast served at 6:30 am with a single aim of energizing for the thrilling chimpanzee trek that’s ahead of you. You will be transferred by your guide to the Kalinzu forest where you get to go through a short briefing about the entire chimpanzee trekking experience.
From here in a company of a park ranger, embark on a jungle walk as you search for these great humans of the wild the chimpanzees the highlight of the day will be when you get to meet these exciting creatures you will be wowed by how much in common we do have with these great apes as they laugh, hug and kiss just like humans do and also look after the young ones.
Besides the chimpanzees, you should also not miss out on the sightings of several other primates that call this forest their home and these include the black and white colobus monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, and Grey monkeys. After the chimpanzee encounter which lasts an hour of pure enjoyment return to the park center.
From here, you will return to your lodge to have a lunch break and enjoy a free afternoon that allows you to enjoy the impressive sightings of the expansive savanna plains of Queen Elizabeth that are filled with a lot of wild game from the comfort of your lodge’s lounge area while sipping on any of the wide variety of tropical drinks from the lodge’s bar.

Day 8 of the 9 Days Uganda Rwanda Safari: Transfer to Lake Mburo for an evening game drive.
This day is fairly relaxed as you will wake up at 8:00 am for breakfast and then embark on a 205 km or 3-4 hours drive to Lake Mburo National Park. You will drive through impressive southwestern Uganda landscapes such as the beautiful tea plantations of Bushenyi which may seem like large football playing fields from afar before making a stop at Igongo Cultural Center 12km past Mbarara town the largest in the sub-region for a thrilling traditional lunch.
After having this sumptuous lunch buffet, you will proceed and visit the 1520AD solar eclipse monument which is found in Biharwe village.
If you wish you can hike up the hill on which this monument is set and enjoy spectacular views of the undulating Ankole plains which form a nice background for you to take photos. While here, the guide will take you through the intriguing history behind this solar eclipse and how it managed to greatly change the destiny of three great ancient kingdoms all at once.
As you get closer to Lake Mburo Park you’re exposed to counts of long-horned Ankole cows with their beautiful physical spread, horn patterns, and body color.
Upon your arrival at this park, you will engage in a stunning game drive which puts you on a collision course with several of the wild animals that call this park their home such as the Burchell Zebras which are only found here and also in the far distant Kidepo Valley Park, sights of the Elands which are the biggest antelopes you can ever encounter on the African plains are eminent. Other animals you encounter include Giraffes, Hippos Kobs, and many others.

Day 9: Do a morning walking Safari & transfer to Kampala with a stop at the Equator.
This is your last on this 9 days Uganda Rwanda safari. You will wake up early in the morning at 7:00 am and have breakfast. After having breakfast, you will embark on a spectacular morning game walk which is also coupled with a game drive experience aimed at taking you easily and faster to sections of the park that have a high concentration of wild game.
During this game walk, you will visit Kazuma hill and also various water ponds in this park which are home to a wide variety of wild mammals such as the Burchell zebras, Elands, Kobs, and Cape buffaloes. While on this walk, you will have an opportunity to walk among these wild animals which will be only a few meters away from you, however, this shouldn’t scare you because you will be accompanied by an armed ranger who will ensure your security.
At the end of this activity, you will commence on your transfer to Kampala which covers 240km or takes about 3 – 4 hours’ drive This journey comes with interesting & exciting road stops done at the Equator where you get to have an equator experience on how to differentiate the Northern from the Southern hemispheres and also have a photo moment.
Enjoy a locally inspired lunch buffet at the Equator cafeteria. Another stop is at the Mpambire drum center and where you will have an encounter with local artists as they manufacture a wide variety of local musical instruments such as drums, African chairs. From here proceed with the rest of your journey back to Entebbe where your safari will come to an end as you catch your departure flight back home.
