AIRKENYA launches Masai Mara – Bwindi flights. AIRKENYA, a Nairobi based airline is commencing flights from Kenya’s popular Masai Mara Game Reserve and the popular Uganda gorilla trekking safari destination of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
On 3rd January 2019, the Nairobi based Air Kenya wrote a statement on their website that read; “AIRKENYA Express meanwhile is gearing up for the Maasai Mara – Entebbe service wef 1st June 2019. The service routes via Kisumu, meaning you can enjoy your Kenya safari and cross over to Uganda and enjoy Gorilla trekking and the best of what Uganda has to offer on their tourist circuit. Airkenya’s subsidiary in Uganda, AeroLink Uganda will take passengers into Bwindi, Kihihi, Semliki, Murchison Falls are just some of the game parks you can connect to.”
The airline will fly passengers from the Masai Mara to Kisumu for customs and immigration clearance, and then proceed across Lake Victoria to Entebbe International Airport following which Air Kenya’s Ugandan partner airline; Aerolink will carry the passengers on to the airfield in Kihihi. At that point will Uganda tour or safari Uganda operators be able to pick up passengers and take them to their prior booking gorilla safari Uganda tracking sector.
Capt. Dino Bisleti, CEO of Air Kenya stated that:
‘Never before has such connection ever been possible. AIRKENYA and AeroLink will provide a seamless connection from Kenya to Uganda and vice versa. Our customers will no longer require to travel to Nairobi spend a night in the City and connect to Entebbe next day. What a time saver!”
This is not the first connection to make possible combined East Africa safaris possible, similar connections have been available for some time now out of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park via Mwanza to Kigali for Rwanda gorilla trekking safaris. These flights being operated by Coastal Aviation.
