In a bid to make the adventure Uganda Safari destination of Mount Rwenzori more accessible to a range of world travelers, the destination is finalizing the plans of establishing the Cable Cars.

The Mount Rwenzori Climbing Adventure in Uganda takes 8 days (central circuit) on a round trip to summit Margarita peak 5,109m above sea level – the highest point on the Mountain which is quite not uneasy task especially for the inexperienced hikers.

The assessment for the Cable Car installation is already done and government is now waiting for the consultant’s report before proceeding to procure the contractor for physical installation. This was disclosed by Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda – the Prime Minister of Uganda during the 8th Annual Tourism Sector Review Conference held at Kampala Serena Hotel.

Mount Rwenzori also known as the legendary Mountains of the moon as disclosed by Ptolemy in 150AD anticipating it to be the source of the great Nile River is one of the remarkable destinations that are normally explored on adventure vacation safaris in Uganda.  The beautiful glacial lakes and Rivers, Africa’s third highest peak covered with snow throughout the year, lush mountain flora and fascinating ridges giving way to the flat stretches of Albertine Rift-valley combine to make Mount Rwenzori an incredible destination worth exploring.

Located to the west of Uganda marking the boarder with the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mount Rwenzori is marked with six profound peaks including Mount Luigi di Savoia, Mount Emin Pasha, Mount Gessi, Mount Baker, Mount Speke and Mount Stanley.  It is protected as Mount Rwenzori National Park and proclaimed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Mount Rwenzori is close to Uganda wildlife safari destination of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Semuliki National Park and Kibale National Park famous for Chimpanzee safari tours in Uganda.  So, the guests interested in visiting Mount Rwenzori can as well combine the tour to the adjacent sites.
