CAA EntebbeThe state of Entebbe International Airport which is the main gateway to Uganda thus used by a range of world travelers connecting to Uganda including Uganda safari undertakers has attracted the attention of President Museveni prompting him to demand an explanation for the respective Civil Aviation Authority.
While returning from 5 days working visit to the United States of America, President Museveni was lured in a moment of shock when he was welcomed by an over grown vegetation and the cracks in the Airport runway. This sorry state rendered the head of state into a moment of ponder as he asked himself whether Entebbe was an Airstrip or an International Airport which handles International traffic including travelers on safaris to Uganda. The President also stated that over grown vegetation and the cracks are a threat to the security of the traveling world.
The President’s directive pushed the officials of Civil Aviation Authority in to a meeting discussing the fate of the Airport and drafting the report to forward to the Head of State.
The Minister for Transport Hon Byandala Ibrahim last year released a suggested Entebbe International redesign in a 20 year master plan which among others  suggestion of expanding the International terminal, including a news domestic passenger terminal and the new area or cargo. The plan also featured new maintenance area for Aircraft, new & larger taxi ways, new fuel tanks, and new aprons for Aircraft’s. This was welcomed by everyone as it looked to be a positive move to building of a well-established International Airport that would impress every one including travelers on safaris and tours in Uganda.
The state of a destinations airport is a significant factor in general travel experience as it creates the first impression for the first time travelers in the area. Thus, the respective authorities have to work tooth and nail to ensure that the beauty of Entebbe International Airport is enhanced to maximize the experience of travelers visiting Uganda including those on gorilla trekking safaris in Uganda.
