Bwindi impenetrable National Park which is famous for gorilla safaris and tours in Uganda has four regions where gorilla trekking is always carried out and one of these is Rushaga.
Rushaga region is located in the south of the park and has the many gorilla families that are always sought for on Uganda gorilla safari than other regions of Bwindi. The families include; Nshongi, Bweza, Kahungye, Busingye and Mishaya. All these gorilla families are fully habituated and can be encountered on the gorilla tracking safari in Uganda.
Being in the south, Rushaga even attracts gorilla trekkers from Rwanda and gives an easy connection to the scenic Virunga volcanoes, Lava dammed Lake Mutanda and Lake Bunyonyi with its 29 islands. The accommodation in the region is not well set and besides gorilla valley lodge that offers midrange accommodation, other accommodation units are in Rubuguri 10km from Rushaga and as far as Lake Mutanda for the sake of upmarket/luxury Chameleon Hill Lodge.
Holding that aside, Rushaga has the potential of overtaking other regions including Buhoma if all the facilities are well set to ensure comfort of gorilla safari in Uganda.
