The issue of online gorilla permits is still a problem since the tour operators and the ministry of tourism have not come to an agreement of implementing the project. This however has affected gorilla tracking safaris in Uganda since some tour operators have resorted to getting out of the business of tourism.
The tourism minister commented that the tour operators and the UWA officials should come to an understanding so that this project can be implemented without affecting any person. If they do not come to one understanding, it will affect the tourism sector hence reducing the mountain gorilla trekking safaris.
The minister also said that both the sides should come to an understanding which will help the tourism sector at large. This is because the tour operators have also done a great job of marketing the tourism sector of Uganda, but however , they should try to embrace the new technologies will are coming up. These will help in increasing the gorilla safari visits to Uganda.
The tour operators also urge that putting the gorilla permits, they will be kicked out of business since the tourists will be able to access the permits from the internet which will affect their companies. However the UWA officials say that this will help in increasing gorilla trekking tours to Uganda.
