Mountain gorillas are found in Bwindi impenetrable national and also in Mgahinga national park. These parks are found in Uganda and they have got half of the gorillas which are found in the whole world. There are about 880 mountain gorillas which are left in the world and these can only be found in Uganda and Rwanda. They have greatly attracted many gorilla trekking safaris to Uganda.
Mountain gorillas cannot be kept in zoos since they are used to cool environments which are not found anywhere apart from where they are recently living. They can also weigh up to 220 kilogrammes and can also grow up to two meters high. Mountain gorillas are vegetarians and they mostly feed on green plants. These characteristics have greatly attracted many gorilla safaris to Uganda.
Mountain gorillas are mostly scared of water and they don’t deal with rain. The female gorillas reach maturity stage at age of 10 while the males at the age of 12 to 15.the mountain gorillas bear young ones every four years and can only have one kid at a time. Many tourists travel to Uganda in order to have a chance of engaging in gorilla trekking activities.
50 % of the gorilla born babies can survive, and those that survive live until about 35 years and this has helped in increasing their numbers with in their habitants. They also share three quarters of the human DNA. They live in groups and these are many in Bwindi impenetrable national park. These also attract many gorilla tracking tours.
