After Government officials embarked on a Uganda safari/tour to the Emin Pasha site in Wadelai, Nebbi District, The German government has donated 10,000 Euros (about Shs36m) towards the renovation of this Uganda safaris tourist site.
The German government further has pledged support the renovation of the Emin Pasha Uganda safari historical site in Nebbi District to boost more Uganda safaris tourists to the site.
This site in Wadelai Sub-county (Emin Pasha ) has been abandoned for decades denying the district any tourism revenue due to lack of many Uganda safari travellers touring the area.
The German government has conssequently given 10,000 Euros (about Shs36 m) to kick start the renovations on the Emin Pasha site.
According to Klaus Dieter Duexmann, the German Ambassador, Emin Pasha site would be developed into a Uganda safari cultural tourism site and add to existing Uganda safaris tourist attractions.
On Tuesday while touring the site with other government officials Ambassador Duexmann said, “We are extending this support because Emin was a true citizen of Germany,”
He further added that: “We call upon the government and the community to support the site for both income generating activities and as a study centre for Ugandans and the whole world.”
Ms Rose Nkaale, the commissioner for Museums and Monuments at the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, appealed to Ugandans to identify many other cultural sites for renovation.
Ms Nkaale said. “The communities should identify many cultural sites such that the Ministry of Tourism can turn them into tourism sites to generate income for our people. We have many sites in Uganda which are unknown due to lack of information,”
Mr. Fred Omach , the State Minister for Finance said that had it been developed some years back the place Emin Pasha would have created employment for many people, about 60 per cent of youth in the district.
