The film aims at portraying Phionah Mutesi’s career in the chess fraternity. The chees prodigee grew in the great Katwe slums along with her coach Robert Katende.
The presence of Lupita in Uganda is a huge promotional endeavor as with the case when the Oscar winning film the last King of Scotland was shot in Uganda’s capital Kampala, Mbale and Entebbe. Lupita Nyong’o has got the desired qualities along with global recognition which at this moment is an indication that the recent concerns by US Embassy in Uganda that the country is not safe do not hold water.
Following scenes of the recent film of James Bond that was shot in Uganda, it is irrefutable that Uganda is gaining ranks in the corridors of Hollywood as a production country. And considering the success of the last King of Scotland, there is no doubt that Lupita’s role in Uganda will definitely give Uganda an International Platform that will culminate to increased safaris and tours to Uganda.
