Not so long till we go for the biggest Rolex festival in Kampala

Finally, a smile for the Rolex lovers. On July 3, the Rolex Initiative launched the Rolex Festival 3rd Edition, themed Street Smart. Ugandans and all those on Uganda safari tours are excited over the event because of the different Rolexes that will be put on display by different Rolex makers from all around the country. Besides being a Rolex Festival 3rd Edition event, the event is going to be a social event.

A Rolex isn’t some luxury watch in Uganda, it’s a chapati rolled with eggs, beef or vegetables (either fried or fresh) so much popular in the streets of Kampala and other towns in Uganda. In 2016, CNN named Rolex among world’s famous fast foods. At around this time, the former Miss Tourism for Busoga region Enid Mirembe showed how proud she was and had to do something with the Rolex (so popular in her region) and that’s how the whole idea was born.

Since this year’s theme is street smart, the festival will focus on sensitizing street food vendors on operating businesses smartly by meeting quality assurance, hygiene, safety and environment standards.

Rolex Festival 3rd Edition

This is how much Ugandan’s love the Rolex festival

The CEO Rolex Initiative, Enid Mirembe announced at a press conference held at the independence grounds monument that the Rolex festival is not just a day out but otherwise away to promote food tourism in Uganda.

“The Rolex Festival seeks to grow food tourism in Uganda as a key driver in the Tourism sector, support the SME sector through business education and creation of awareness of their products and also popularize the Rolex on the world map as Uganda’s very own fast and street food,” said Enid Mirembe.

There several organizations that have come up to support this wonderful food event. The sponsors include Uganda Tourism Board, Miss Tourism Uganda, Coca Cola, Kampala Capital City Authority, Shell Gas, Galaxy FM, and Kaswa Flour.

The event will be held on 19th day of August 2018 at the Uganda Museum. The Uganda Museum displays and exhibits ethnological, natural-historical and traditional life collections of all Uganda’s cultural heritage. The Museum is 4.3km from the city center about 14 min drive a long Nakasero road on a non-busy day. When you have a Uganda tour at a round this time, adding this to your itinerary is the best idea, you might never find it any where else.

The Rolexes will come in different forms like chicken, beef, vegetables, malewa and being sold from a minimum price of Ug sh 3000 and above.

Musicians like Cindy, Undercover brothers, Fik Fameika, Vinka, Wembly, Eddy Wizzy, Slick Stuart & Roger will beautify the event with entertainment.

Rolex Festival 3rd Edition activities

The activities to be enjoyed include live band, music performances, Face painting, play stations, kids bouncing castles, celebrity cook out, Rolex cooking competition and lessons for those who want to learn how to prepare the best Rolex.

For this edition, a combo will be introduced where each Rolex purchased will earn you a Coca Cola drink since they are the title sponsors of this event.

A Kampala city tour can’t get better than attending a Rolex festival where recipes from all around Uganda will be used to make Rolexes. This is the only one stop center for 19th August 2018.
