Uganda Camping Tour Highlight; 14 Days

Day 1: Arrive in Uganda – Entebbe International Airport and transfer to the Camping Ground

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. Visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary en route

Day 1: Arrive in Uganda – Entebbe International Airport and transfer to the Camping Ground

Arrive in Uganda following the flight from your respective country of origin. You land at Entebbe International Airport which is the main gateway to Uganda where you will find the company representative dedicated to offer you a courteous welcome. The amazing weather and brightening atmosphere on the shores of Lake Victoria give you a remarkable first impression of Uganda. After briefing about Uganda and the safari, you will connect to the respective camping ground for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. Visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary en route

You will be picked from your place of stay in Kampala after breakfast to embark on the drive to Murchison Falls National Park 311km about 5 hours’ drive.  You drive through impressive flat landscapes of central Uganda including the district of Nakasongora before branching off at Nakitooma for 7km to connect to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Upon arriving in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, you embark on a thrilling White Rhino tracking to encounter the count of fifteen southern white Rhinos that comprise of the adults and young ones. Rhinos are part of the big five of land animals and exploring them on foot is a rewarding encounter that you can explore on this Uganda safari encounter. Continue on the drive to Murchison, arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Day 3: Do game drive in the morning, Nile launch cruise in the afternoon and hike to the top of the falls

You will wake up early in the morning, have breakfast, you will then go for a game drive in the Northern Bank. The Murchison Falls National Park wildlife includes giraffes, elephants, Uganda Kobs, buffaloes, water bucks, vervet monkeys, Olive Baboons, Patas monkey, Jackson’s Hartebeest and lions. After this 3 – 4 hour game drive, connect to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon you connect to Paraa Jetty to embark on the afternoon Nile launch cruise departing at 2pm. It avails a great opportunity for you to view hippos, crocodiles, plus birds at the river banks such as the bee-eater, kingfisher, the rare shoe bill stork plus the cormorants. Upon reaching the bottom of the falls, embark on the hike to the top of the falls following a narrow path along the sounds and sights of the Nile River as it forces its way through a less than 7m ravine to falls 43m below the Devils Cauldron deriving a plume of Spray marked by a thunderous roar and trade mark rain bow. It is a magical encounter worth exploring. Connect to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Day 4: Transfer to Fort Portal in the shadows of the mystical Mountains of the moon

After breakfast traverse the Albertine Escarpment and the lush countryside, traditional farms and homesteads. Have a lunch break in Hoima and proceed to arrive in Fort Portal Area in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Day 5: Do Chimpanzee trekking in the morning and afternoon Bigodi wetland walk

After breakfast, embark on the chimpanzee trekking encounter in Kibale National Park. You gather at Kanyanchu tourism Center for briefing at 8am by the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers after which you head to the prehistoric forest in search of your closest cousin. Kibale National Park offers great flora concentration with 351 Species of trees some of which are 200 years old and over 55m tall. The park also supports 70 species of mammals and 13 species of Primates among which include the common chimpanzee, Black and white colobus and red tailed monkey.  The 375 Species of birds thieve in the park including the impressive western green tinker bird, two species of pittas (African and green-breasted), olive long-tailed cuckoo, African grey parrot and the endemic ground thrush (Turdus kibalensis). Thus makes the search for the chimpanzees beyond the ordinary. Upon encountering the chimps, you have an opportunity to see them munch fruit, hunt, patrol, copulate, young ones playing, make pant hooting calls among other interesting aspects for one full hour. The exciting moments with the chimps will leave you with no other option but to be active with your cameras to make a reserve of remarkable photos that will always take you back to the memories of this wonderful moment. Retreat from the activity and connect to the starting point where you connect with your company guide, settle for your packed lunch after which you connect to Bigodi wetland sanctuary for an afternoon walk. Bigodi wetland is an eco-tourism project developed and managed by the community sheltering a count of 138 bird species which include the Great Blue Turaco. The swamp also supports the swamp dwelling sitatunga antelope but importantly features a heritage encounter to the local people and craft center that enables you to explore the local way of life. Retreat from the 2 hours walk back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and do game drive

After your early morning breakfast you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park-    a trip that may take you approximately 3 hours driving along remarkable scenic views of Rwenzori Mountains – the legendary Mountain of the moon towering to 5,109m above sea level with snowcapped peaks. You make stops en route to visit the Rwenzori Art Foundation – the only bronze Casting Center in Africa to encounter a range of items displayed in the gallery and you also have the chance to participate in the sculpture making itself. You also visit the Ruboni Community craft village to explore the craft making process and you can also participate in the craft making process and learn a skill. Continue on the drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, check in at your camping ground, set your tents and after connect to the park for an evening game drive where you have possibilities of exploring elephants, Buffaloes, Waterbucks, Kobs, among others. Retire for overnight

Day 7: Do morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel

After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park for a morning game drive exploring the park’s rolling savannah landscapes dotted with counts of wild game including the big four of the big five like lions, leopards, buffaloes and elephants, antelope species like water bucks, Kobs, bushbucks among others, jackals among other wild game. The stretch to Kasenyi and the Mweya peninsular offers you the best of these. You settle for lunch at Mweya lodge after which you gather at the Mweya jetty to embark on a thrilling boat cruise on the 45km long Kazinga Channel. The cruise takes 2 hours with possibilities of encountering the aquatic species such as Nile Crocodiles and Hippos not forgetting other wild game that tends to congregate on the channel shores to consume water.  Retreat from the activity and do a game drive along the channel track as you head to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Do a game drive in Ishasha sector in route in search of tree climbing lions

After breakfast at your respective lodge, embark on the transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park either Buhoma or Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkurigo depending on where you are going to track gorillas from. The drive takes you through Ishasha sector in the south of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you spend some time driving in its rolling plains marked by counts of fig trees in search of tree climbing lions that tend to climb the fig trees during the day time. The short trees with overlying branches in Ishasha present the best opportunities for viewing tree climbing lions than any other part of the world where such Species exist. Continue on the drive to make another stop in the local communities of Kanungu for a coffee plantation tour to explore the traditional coffee growing practices, its cultural attachment to the local people and its significance to the local community. Arrive in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Do gorilla trekking and an evening Community walk

Have breakfast at your respective lodge and then go to the park offices to get briefed and at 8:00am after which you embark on the Uganda gorilla trek along the designated trails within the impenetrable forest in search for these great mountain gorillas. The gorilla trekking might take you 2 – 8 hours to find the giant Gorillas depending on their movement. The trek/quest for these great apes is tiresome but very well rewarded by meeting, spending time with and photographing these great gorillas as you look straight into their inviting brown expressive eyes, this is a life time thrill of a wild life adventure only Africa can offer you. After your one hour with the gorillas, return to the starting point and transfer to the starting point to embark on the transfer to the lodge for relaxation. In the evening, you embark on the community tour of the Batwa people to explore their new life after being evicted from their ancient forest. Listen to their stories and attend to their performances before retiring for overnight

Day 10: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, do boat cruise and visit the Island Communities

After breakfast, embark on the transfer to Lake Bunyonyi traversing the Kigezi Highlands commonly referred to as the Switzerland of Africa. You undertake a boat cruise to gain impressive views of Lake Bunyonyi with its 28 Islands that have earned it a dub as the lake of a thousand Islands. You also take a walk on some of the Islands to explore the heritage of the local people, their local schools, and their traditional food preparation methods, their traditional performances before returning to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Day 11: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and do an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo

After a relaxed breakfast, embark on the drive to Lake Mburo National Park 199km about 4 hours’ drive. You drive through amazing landscapes of south western Uganda with stretching cattle farms and banana plantations before approaching Mbarara town the largest in the sub region and proceeding for 12km to Igongo Cultural Center for traditional lunch. You proceed for 33km to Lake Mburo National Park entering through Nshaara gate to embark on an afternoon boat trip along the waters of Lake Mburo. The possible sights include impressive Hippos, Nile crocodiles and a range of birds such as African Fish eagle.  Retire for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Day 12: Undertake a morning game walking safari and afternoon Banyankole Community tour

After breakfast, embark on a thrilling game walking safari passing through the impressive savannah ecosystem with lots of Acacia. You enjoy beautiful views of the area including open stretching plains. The walk offers you an opportunity to explore the a range of wild game including; Rothschild giraffes, Impala, Burchell’s Zebra, Topis, Warthogs, waterbucks, bushbucks, elands not forgetting acacia associated birds. Hiking the Kazuma hill offers you one of the magical scenic views in Uganda. You connect back to the lodge for relaxation and lunch and in the afternoon, you connect to the Enyemebwa Cultural center and upon arrival, the local guides take you around the home stead exploring the exterior and interior of the local thatched huts, the views of the cattle Kraal, the crop gardens and banana plantations after which you head to the wilderness for grazing the cattle along with other herd’s men.  Retreat in the evening back home with the cows for traditional hand milking after which you attend to the traditional performances before retiring for dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Transfer to Kampala with a stop at Uganda Equator Crossing Kayabwe

After a relaxed breakfast, embark on the drive to Kampala 240km about 3 – 4 hours’ drive making a stop at the Equator where a North Pole-South Pole demonstrating wave and water direction moves clockwise and anti-clockwise in different pole to justify the geographical divide between these two points. The site also offers impressive opportunity for photography and souvenir purchase. Have lunch at the Equator and proceed to Kampala arriving in the afternoon for relaxation and overnight

Day 14: Kampala tour

After breakfast at around 9.00 am, your guide will pick you up from your hotel and you embark on the famous Kampala tour. You will penetrate the busy capital city and tour all the gothic era cathedrals, mosques, the Baha’i temple, Namugongo shrine-where the famous Uganda Martyrs were murdered, visit the famous Owino market down town, Kabaka`s palace and lake, Kasubi tombs and the Uganda parliament Return to your hotel/Lodge or if you wish transfer to the airport for you flight back home.
