A DAY TRIP TO NGAMBA ISLAND CHIMPANZEE SANCTUARY – UGANDA SAFARI NEWS

Ngamba Island surrounded by Lake Victoria – Africa’s largest lake and one of the popular sites for holiday tours in Uganda, is home to 49 Orphaned Chimpanzees foraging in the natural tropical forest but with supplementary feeding from the main station.

At 23km from mainland, Ngamba Island is the closest spot from Kampala and Entebbe where the visitors on Chimpanzee safari in Uganda can view Chimpanzees. The speed boat takes 40 minutes from Entebbe dock to Ngamba Island offering a soothing transfer on this expanse fresh water mass of Lake Victoria with a magical Equator line crossing and the view of the fishing communities.

The Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Day trip is available both in the morning and in the afternoon shift. The morning shift departs at 9am and returns at 12:45hrs while the afternoon shift departs at 1pm and returns at 5pm.

Ngamba Island offers incredible Chimpanzee sightings as they draw to the forest opening for feeding. At the raised viewing platform, the guests are astonished by the amazing Chimpanzee activity as they jump to secure fruits, fight and make their pant hooting calls during the feeding experience.

However, if one is interested in exploring Chimpanzees in their natural habitat, the ideal Uganda safari sites include; Kibale National Park Uganda, Budongo Forest Reserve, Kalinzu Forest Reserve, Kyambura gorge and Semuliki Valley National Park.

Uganda Gorilla Safaris, together with Congo Gorilla Safaris Tours and Gorilla Safaris in Rwanda can be undertaken as alternatives for Chimpanzee safaris in Africa
