Ethiopian Airlines a member of Star Alliance  has announced  their plans to add Madrid as one of their new destinations come June 2013.They will initially start with three flights per week with effect from 15th June 2013.

They stated that all their flights shall operate via Rome FCO and that their total number of flights to Madrid- Italian capital city shall rise to 11from presently 8. This announcement also confirmed that B757will be the aircraft to be used on this new route and that traffic days will be Monday, Thursday plus Saturday, and shall normally leave Addis Ababa at 00.25 hrs and always return the following morning at 07.00 hrs. This will offer great network connections to many African destinations both ways to a wide range of African destinations including Uganda worth boosting the Uganda safari/Uganda safaris industry commonly referred to as the tourism industry.

Most Eastern African destinations can`t wait for the start of these new Ethiopian Airlines  flights because connections from Spain to Africa are still so very limited.One has to connect from  Heath row, Brussels or Amsterdam on  European airlines or from the Gulf on Emirates & Qatar Airways to get home. In spite of the current economic problems in Spain, she is a very important market place and adding these flights will definitely give great opportunities for joint business opportunities between the linked African destinations and Spain but Europe at large.
