13 Days Uganda & Rwanda Group Gorilla Safari:
Overview:
This tour will start by visiting the magnificent Murchison falls and then proceed to Kibale National Park for Chimpanzee tracking, then transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park for a game drive and a boat cruise. Then you will proceed to Bwindi impenetrable National Park for Gorilla tracking safari which takes between 2 – 8 hours. The safari also takes you to Rwanda for more Gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park. Then proceed to Lake Mburo national park for a game walk and the safari will end with a Nile adventure tour

DAY 13: The Source of the Nile Adventure

DAY 1: Transfer from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park. Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary en route & top of the falls on arrival.
Early morning after breakfast transfer northwards to Murchison via Budongo forest with a lunch stop-over in Masindi. You will arrive in the Albertine Rift valley at the top of the falls in the late afternoon a time at which the Nile River’s looks splendid and spectacular especially the point at which this river compresses and squeezes itself from over a kilometer wide down through an 8-meter gorge creating a thunderous roar. This is the most powerful natural surge of water found anywhere in the world. Retire in the evening for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2: Game drive & an afternoon Nile launch cruise
Early morning you will have a game drive on the northern bank. The area is gifted with abundant wildlife such as buffalo, lions, hyenas, elephants, cape hartebeests, rothchild’s giraffes, bushbucks, bohor reedbucks, oribi, waterbucks, and if lucky  leopards. Return to the lodge for your late breakfast and have rest. Right after your lunch, embark on a boat cruise up the stream of the Victoria Nile and to the base of the falls. On this 17-kilometer cruise you have possibilities of seeing the wonderful crocodiles, hippos, elephants, waterbucks and Uganda Kobs. Blessed with a variety of bird species such as the pelican bee-eaters, Egyptian geese, Hornbills, goliath herons, the rare shoebill, stork kingfishers and cormorants, the Nile launch cruise derives ultimate memories.

DAY 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast traverse the Albertine Escarpment and the lush countryside, traditional farms and home steads arriving in Fort Portal in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Accommodation: Primate Lodge (Upmarket/Luxury), Chimpanzee Guesthouse (Midrange/Standard) or Rwenzori View Guesthouse (Budget/Basic).

DAY 4: Chimpanzee tracking & Bigodi wetland walk
Early morning after breakfast at 6am drive to Kanyanchu, Kibale Park Headquarters, before 8.00 am for chimpanzee trekking. Kibale forest harbors other primates including the Red-tailed and grey-cheeked Mangabeys, Lhoest’s, Blue and Red-Colobus in addition to chimps, never the less the many beautiful birds species, butterflies plus many small insects as well. A visit to Bigodi swamp eco-tourism site given its astounding flora and fauna will be a time worth adventure too.

DAY 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park & do an afternoon Kazinga Channel launch cruise
After your early morning breakfast you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park-    a trip that may take you approximately 3 hours. Your lunch shall be taken at Mweya Safari Lodge. Embark on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel in the afternoon, between Lakes Edward and George. In addition to the great variety of wildlife, the Channel has a great number of water birds. Retire for dinner and overnight.

DAY 6: Morning game viewing & an afternoon Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge
Early morning before breakfast you will embark on a morning game drive in search of predators such as leopards, lions, jackals, and hyenas. You will return to the lodge for breakfast then transfer to Kyambura Game Reserve for more chimpanzees trekking an activity that lasts between 2 – 5 hours with one hour of direct encounter with chimps.

DAY 7: Transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha for tree-climbing lions
After breakfast embark on the transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will drive through the savannah plains of Ishasha in search of tree climbing lions that tend to rest on fig tree branches. Proceed on the journey have lunch en route and arrive in Bwindi in the evening for relaxation and overnight.
Accommodation: Chameleon Hill Lodge (Upmarket/Luxury), Gorilla Mist Camp (Midrange / Standard) or Nshongi Gorilla Resort (Budget/Basic).

Day 8: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park & afternoon relaxation at the lodge.
 After an early morning breakfast but with packed lunch, you will have a briefing by the game guides at the park headquarters then start your gorilla trek. Encountering the mountain gorillas in their natural environment takes is cumbersome and takes between 2 – 8 hours but once found it is the highlight of an Africa adventure safari. You will have only 1 hour to observe, interact with and photograph these calm lovely apes. Return from the activity to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

DAY 9: Transfer to Rwanda via Kibale highlands-‘the Switzerland of Africa’. Have a relaxing boat cruise on the twin lakes.
After breakfast you shall transfer to Rwanda via the magnificent Kigezi highlands usually referred to as the ‘Switzerland of Africa’ and cross the Uganda – Rwanda border to Ruhengeri. Your evening shall be spent visiting the Burera and Ruhondo twin lakes for a boat drive and interacting with the local community. Retire for dinner and overnight.
Accommodation: Mount Gorilla View Lodge (Upmarket/Luxury), La Palme Hotel (Midrange / Standard) or Muhabura Hotel (Budget/Basic).

DAY 10: Gorilla tracking in Volcano National Park & cross to Uganda – to Lake Bunyonyi
You will spend part of your day tracking mountain gorillas in Volcano national park and in the afternoon cross back to Uganda and spend your night at Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 11: Do morning boat ride & Island hopping, exploring island communities & transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast early in the morning, embark on the boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi exploring its range of 29 islands. You will do island hopping gaining a glimpse of the main islands and their communities, visit schools and homesteads and exploring their livelihood activities. Retire from this activity and embark on the transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and enter the park through Sanga Gate. Do an evening game drive as you head to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.

DAY 12: Do morning game walk & transfer to Kampala. Make a stop at Uganda Equator stop – Kayabwe.
After breakfast you will embark on a game walk. The morning game walk will take you along various park trails to have chances of exploring various wild game including; herds of zebra, cape buffaloes, oribi and topi, eland. With over 250 species such as the Papyrus Gonoleks, Brown-faced Lapwings, Bare-faced Go-away bird, the extraordinary White-winged Warbler plus Carruther’s Cisticolas, Bird watchers might have a memorable adventure. After lunch you shall drive back to Kampala with a stop at the Uganda Equator crossing at Kayabwe before proceeding to Kampala for dinner and overnight.

DAY 13: 1st Mar 2015: The Source of the Nile Adventure
After your breakfast transfer to Jinja via Mabira forest to get to the Source of the Nile. Encounter the impressive Sezibwa falls, Mabira eco-center for a mini-forest guided walk with possibilities of encountering some bird species and primates and eventually the source of the Nile. Encountering the source of the Nile involves a boat cruise from the river bank to the source and you will have an opportunity to see the Nile starting it 90 year journey to Mediterranean Sea. Retreat to Kampala to mark the end of your safari.

We offer set departure dates for the above scheduled programs LEAVING FROM KAMPALA ON THE SPECIFIC DATES MENTIONED.These are fixed for groups who would like to join other people traveling on these tours.

Where gorilla tracking is involved, this will depend on the availability of gorilla permits at the time of booking. Because of the scarcity of gorilla permits, our programs have been standardized to allow tracking in either Bwindi or Mgahinga parks or Rwanda – De Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. However tracking Rwanda (Park Volcanoes) this will need a top up of permits, visa entry, accommodation and border crossing fees.

Clients to track in Rwanda staying in upmarket/Medium facilities will top USD 395 and client staying budget facility will be toping up USD 285.

Safaris cutting accross x-mas and end of year dates will be subjected to supplements.

Clients are advised to book early to avoid disappointments (see our other booking policy terms )

Tour minimum numbers of people are 2 – 6 people. Each person will be communicated the standing number of persons to join and how many are confirmed for the trip. A refund or top up will be paid where the number exceeds other than communicated. Big groups will be communicated special rates on request

Clients on working visits in the country stand to exploit this chance for our affordable tours and safaris.

Accommodation

In terms of accommodation the price quote given is based on the Midium rate and budget options rate accommodation facilities. The budget type of accommodation is in rest camps or bandas- which are African small medium houses separate from each other and may not necessarily be self contained, while in other cases it will be in hostels like at Queen Elizabeth National Park or in budget hotels. In most cases these are simple accommodation units but with clean facilities. Meals can either be served from canteens in some cases or in the Dinning rooms.

In the Medium option rates, accommodation is in self-contained facilities (cottages, hotels, lodges or tented camps) with standard en-suit rooms and offer meals of international standard cuisine. For Luxury and Upmarket accommodation facilities can send special request.

Included in the Cost

The costs given above include accommodation and meals on full board basis while on safari, 1 gorilla permit and 1 or 2 chimp tracking permits per person where mentioned, 1 boat cruise on River Nile in Murchison Falls National Park and another launch cruise on Kazinga channel in Queen Elizabeth National park also where mentioned, game drives and park entrance fees plus bottled water through out the safari transits.

Cost Excludes

The cost excludes airport transfers and accommodation in Kampala. However, airport transfers and accommodation while in Kampala (before and after the safari) can be arranged for you on request. The cost also does not cover drinks, souvenirs, tips, and all other expenses of personal nature. Our trips usually begin at 8.00am from Sheraron or we can pick you at your hotel and end in Kampala. However, pick up from any other place can be arranged on request.

Deposit.

A total of 30% will be deposited or at least costs to pay for gorilla permit fees to confirm the safari .The Balance will be paid 3o days to safari date. Payments will be done by sending funds by Telegraphic Transfer (wire transfer ) method to our bank Account details communicated upon confirmation.
