Detailed Safari Itinerary 8 Days Wildlife & Recreation Safari in Kenya

Day 1 of the 8 Days Wildlife  & Recreation Safari in Kenya: Transer to Mount Kenya Club & have a whole day recreation

After breakfast at the hotel, pick-up at around 0800hours, safari briefing by our representative and off our journey starts. Drive to Mount Kenya Safari Club, upon arrival, check in and relax. The club is set in pristine grounds at the foot of the majestic snow capped Mount Kenya and  was founded in 1959 by William Holden and has been honored by visits from many celebrities including John Travolta. Time at the club is graced by long lunches and lazy log fire dinners, for the more energetic there is a heated swimming pool, tennis courts, croquet, a golf course, trout fishing, nature / bird walks, horse riding and an ride on an ox wagon through the club grounds. There is also an animal orphanage within the club grounds which has cheetahs, the llama, ostriches, zebroids (mixed breed of zebra and a horse), porcupines, baby antelopes, the white tailed Colobus monkeys and a tortoise rumored to be over 100 years old.

Day 2 & 3 of the 8 Days Wildlife  & Recreation Safari in Kenya: Transer to  Samburu National Park & explore it extensively

Breakfast at the lodge and check out, board your van and drive to Samburu Game Reserve. These days are spent viewing game in Samburu Reserve, exploring its open grasslands and diverse landscapes in search of the variety of wildlife found here.

Samburu hosts beautiful forests, springs and rivers, offering stunning scenery.

The game park is part of a lava plain that includes varied habitats, from thorn scrub, red dirt and dried river beds, to broken volcanic rock, steep hills and rocky outcrops. This region is home to the uncommon Grevy’s zebra with huge fury ears, gerenuk antelope standing on hind legs to feed, Somali ostriches with distinct blue legs and the shy Oryx. Elephant and crocodile are guaranteed sightings and lion, hippo and giraffe are also found in the reserve. The reserve is also excellent for bird watching, with over 365 species, including varieties of weaverbirds and the martial eagle. Leopard sightings are also a special feature here. The afternoon will be spent visiting the cultural villages since Samburu area is also home to interesting people with a rich heritage, making for a colorful cultural experience.

Day 4 of the 8 Days Wildlife  & Recreation Safari in Kenya:  Transfer to Lake Nakuru for birding and game drive 

On this day, you will drive to Lake Nakuru National Park after breakfast.  Enjoy a game drive in the park, on the shores of the lake famous for its birdlife, especially the Flamingos that form a pink hue across the lake. Animals to be seen include; Lions, Black and White Rhinos, Leopards, Rothschild giraffes and many others. Packed lunch will be enjoyed at a picnic site in the park.

Day 5 of the 8 Days Wildlife  & Recreation Safari in Kenya:   Transfer to Lake Naivasha & whole day recreation

After breakfast at the hotel you will be at leisure, with an optional boat ride on Lake Naivasha in the afternoon. Lake Naivasha is one of the Kenya’s fresh water lakes on the Rift Valley with over 400 bird species and is also the deepest lake on the Rift Valley.

Day 6 of the 8 Days Wildlife  & Recreation Safari in Kenya: Transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve & do evening game drive as you connect to the lodge

masai-mara-migration-kenya-safarisEnjoy breakfast at the hotel, check out and drive via the beautiful savannah grasslands and plains in the Great Rift Valley, magnificent views of Mt. Suswa, Mt. Margaret and Mt. Longonot, to arrive at Masai Mara in time for lunch.

This game reserve is among the 9 wonders of the world and is a renowned tourist destination in Kenya, famous for the wildebeest migration along the Mara River. The river is full of Crocodiles and hippos which traverse the Mara.

The reserve has high proportions of wildlife and above all one is sure to spot a pride of lions resting or hovering in the fantastic woodland savannah grassland, and also the big five. Other animals expected include; hyenas, antelopes, topis, dikdik, and zebras among others.

After lunch you will leave the lodge for the evening game drive.

Day 7 of the 8 Days Wildlife  & Recreation Safari in Kenya:    Full day Maasai Mara wild game viewing encounter with Maasai Community tour

Early morning game drive later return to the lodge for breakfast. Rest of the day is spent at leisure, with optional balloon ride to view the rolling grasslands of the Maasai Mara at an aerial view.  The Maasai Mara Plains offer ideal game viewing and photographic opportunities and the grassy plains are broken by rocky outcrops which are favorite midday resting places for Lion. This is where millions of Wildebeest cross the Mara River from the Serengeti National park of Tanzania to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve of Kenya – an annual spectacular event, which brings along thousands of plains game and predators to the Mara, making the park a beehive of ‘wildlife activities’.
