Day 1 of the 7 Days Mount Elgon Climbing Tour Uganda & hiking trip – Sipi Trail: Transfer to Sipi Area & hike Sipi Falls
After breakfast at the hotel, after which you team with the driver guide to embark on the drive to Eastern Uganda at 7:00 am. You drive through Kampala following Jinja road 80km enjoying the early morning moist sights of the Lugazi sugar cane plantations, the Mabira Forest before arriving in Jinja town which is one of the major cosmopolitan towns in Uganda whose neighbourhoods shelters the historical source of the Nile River – the longest in the whole world. You continue on the drive for 39km to arrive in Iganga exploring the impressive sugar and Rice plantations and the natural swamps with flowing streams. The drive will take you to Mbale town 109km from Iganga and eventually, you proceed to Sipi falls 48km from Mbale. The journey can take you about 4 hours. Upon arriving in Sipi, you embark on the Sipi falls hike. The hike allows you to explore the three waterfalls that stretch to 85m, 75m and 100m accordingly. The hike duration depends on the fitness levels but cannot exceed 4 hours even for the first-time hikers. The trail to the falls presents an opportunity for you to enjoy amazing sceneries of the Elgon Mountain with its range of cliffs that small rivers plummet to form falls, the outstanding hills, sights of Kenya across the border, the Bagisu farmlands with their extensive coffee plantations and the flat plains of Karamoja. After exploring the falls and taking a myriad of photos, you connect back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2 of the 7 Days Mount Elgon Climbing Tour Uganda & hiking trip – Sipi Trail: Hike from Kapkwai to Tutum Cave
After breakfast, you set off from Kapkwai to Tutum cave about 11km walk. The walk takes 3-4 hours. You will hike through the montane forest, a dense forest with species of Podocarpus and remnants of Anigeria spp. En route, you will find the beautiful Chebonet Falls, Kapkwai cave, Wiri ridge viewpoint, Baboons, monkeys, waterbucks, fruit bats, Kajeri waterfalls, Kajeri valley, bushbucks, duikers, and a variety of countless birds.

Day 3 of the 7 Days Mount Elgon Climbing Tour Uganda & hiking trip – Sipi Trail: Hike from Tutum Camp to Camp Kajeri
The trek is for 17Km and lasts about 5 hours. Uganda’s Tutum Cave is believed to be connecting to Kenya as there is Kitum on the Kenyan side. The trek is through the mixed bamboo forest zone.

Today’s walk is 21km and will take 6-7Hrs through the heath and the Moorland. The altitude gets to 4000 meters above sea level, within the Caldera rim and gradually drops to 3500 meters above sea level at Mude cave camp. You will see the Kajeri Valley, Dirigana falls, Sipi River, Muyembe Valley, Mubiyi Peak and rock Sculptures, world cup-shaped rock, plants like the scenecio, Lobelia Elgonesis, Forget me not, Ladles mantle, caldera, siyo cave etc

Day 5 of the 7 Days Mount Elgon Climbing Tour – Sipi Trail: Hike from Muda Camp to Wagagai Peak & back to Muda Camp
Today, you can either choose to descend by Sasa trail or go the same way as ascend. You will hike to the top of Wagai peak which is the highest point and descend back to Mude

Descend to the trailhead at Budadiri, enjoying the views of the Sipi Falls, connect with the guide and then transfer to Mbale.
