What is the best time tour to Rwanda?
Questions on what is the best time for my tour to Rwanda are quite more often by those who are planning to visit the country. The seasonality will always vary a little each single year because of several reasons but factors like when do you want to travel, when is your holiday will happen and many more personal factors. Best time is not only for the weather but for the traveler too, your best time could not be the best season or another tourists’ best time.
Though being close to the equator line, Rwanda’s climate varies from the neighboring countries. The climate is cooled by the high altitudes in the country from the famous slogan the land of a thousand hills. Sitting within the heart of Africa, south of the equator its position offers a remarkably pleasant tropical climate with warm days and cool nights all year round. For incase weather is a key determinant on when you will have to travel, here is a guide for you to plan.
Precipitation in Rwanda ranges between 1,000 to 1,400 millimeters (40 to 55 inches) annually depending on the altitude. June to August form the dry seasons with July being the driest month (probably the best time for safari activities) March to May (stronger rainy season with 150mm per month) and September to November are rainy months with December to February having decreased rainfall amounts.
Temperatures vary depending on the altitude of the areas. In Rwanda’s capital Kigali, the average daily temperature is 230 C.
Throughout the seasons the weather can change with light showers in a dry season and warm temperatures during the rainy season. The light cloud cover helps regulate temperatures.
Now you know when to go so you can plan accordingly.
