Following breakfast at your place in Kigali, you undertake a tour of the Gisozi genocide memorial to explore the remains of the 1994 tragic genocide that befell Rwanda. The museum has audio presentations, writings and human remains all detailing what transpired during the genocide times. Retreat from the activity and settle for lunch after which you connect to Akagera National Park Rwanda 135km about 2 ½ hours enjoying the scenic views of the countryside. 2 Days Wildlife Safari in Rwanda Akagera National Park

Wake up for an early breakfast at 6 am before embarking on a rewarding game drive with possible views of a range of wild game including; the elephants, Masaai Giraffes, the Buffaloes, the Impala, waterbucks, bushbucks, roan antelope, leopards, reedbuck among other species. The 3 – 4-hour drive stretches up to the northern landscapes of Mutumba hills where you gain panoramic views of the wetland system below and the overlooking Tanzanian plains.  You retreat to the lodge for lunch after which you gather at Lake Ihema for an afternoon boat cruise gaining possible views of aquatics like Nile crocodiles and Hippos along with birds like papyrus gonolecks and the rare shoebill stork. Set off for the transfer to Nyungwe National Park 403km about 8 hours drive passing through Kigali as you proceed to the south of Rwanda. A stop is made in Butare town for lunch and the tour to the National Museum of Rwanda with a range of 100,000 artefacts detailing the history and heritage of Rwanda. From Butare, you proceed to Nyungwe Forest National Park for relaxation, dinner and overnight

2 Days Chimpanzee Safari in Rwanda to Nyungwe Forest National Park

You wake very early for breakfast and transfer at 5 am to Kyamudongo Forest about 2 hours drive to catch up with Chimpanzee briefing at 8 am. The briefing is conducted by the Park rangers after which you head to the forest in search of Chimpanzees. Nyungwe Forest National Park Rwanda is a rich montane forest cover known to have survived the last ice age and besides the Chimpanzees, it features other 12 species of Primates including the Black and white colobus monkeys (the largest grouping on the continent of Africa). 75 Species of mammals and 310 species of birds all thrive in Nyungwe forest making it very diverse and impressive to explore.  The Chimpanzee trek in Rwanda lasts about 2 – 5 hours with actual viewing limited to one hour for conservation purposes where you encounter them as they munch fruit, socialize, copulate, patrol and make their amazing pant hooting calls. In the afternoon, you undertake the famous Nyungwe canopy walk starting at Uwinka visitor centre. The walk lasts 1 – 2 hours offering lush sights of the forest canopy, birds, primates and the deep gorges.  Spend the evening at leisure at the lodge

Embark on the golden monkey tracking commencing at 7 am from Kinigi Park station. You trek the slopes of Mount Sabinyo before exploring these endangered species thriving in the Bamboo zone. Golden monkeys are marked with a golden patch on their backs which are impressive to explore as they jump from branch to branch. The golden monkey trek lasts about 4 hours with the actual viewing limited to one hour for conservation purposes. Retreat from the activity and settle for lunch. In the afternoon, you embark on the tour to the historical Musanze caves whose formation dates far back to 65million years ago as a result of lava overflow from Bisoke and Sabyinyo Volcanoes. Following breakfast, undertake a hike to Mount Bisoke 3700m above sea level. Bisoke Volcano is part of the eight Mountains that form the Virunga massif and its adventure hike offers remarkable views of the surrounding volcanoes, Lake Ngezi Crater and the Bisoke itself. The trek commences at Kinigi at 7 am and lasts around 7 hours for the round trip. It is not so strenuous and thus first time hikers can attempt it. From the adventure Bisoke climbing experience, you drive to Kigali 116km about 2 – 3 hour’s drive.
