With the introduction of flights to Ngamba island,it now takes 15 minutes to see chimps in this Uganda safari destination.A flight from Kajjansi aboard Aero Link outside Kampala, has simplified the chimpanzee Uganda tour as well a tour to hundreds of bird species that duel in Ngamba islands.

The Kajjansi Aero Club (Fly Uganda) reached a memorandum of understanding with the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust (CSWCT) to Fly Uganda tourists to Ngamba Island to trek chimpanzees under conservation, monitor lizard plus abig number of bird species.

To promote the other tourist activities on the island that includes sport fishing and community tourism is a chopper secured from the Japanese Police Force close to three years ago will.

This helicopter is to carry four passengers at maximum and will charge $980 for four full packages a return trip and this includes access to the island.

Despite the fact that the test flight showed there is no effect so far, Lilly Ajarova stated that a monitoring system and team has been put in place to look out for any drastic negative effect of the chopper on the chimpanzees.

According to Barnes, the longer tourists stay in Uganda, the more money they spend and have a better experience and the more they can talk positively about the country.


The executive director of CSWCT, Lilly Ajarova, stated that Ngamba highlands houses rescued chimpanzees from areas where they were endangered such as West Africa, and here chimpanzees are already extinct in four countries.

She lamented that Most of their mothers were killed and were brought as babies. She further said that some were brought back to Uganda from Europe after they were traced back to Uganda. She also advised that there has to be a deliberate move to see they continue surviving.

According to Lilly Ajarova, Ngamba Island chimp sanctuary receives 4,000 international tourists per year and it is a destination promoting Uganda safaris and Uganda as a nation because tourists include a lot of other destinations.
