The 3 Days Uganda Safari and Primates Trekking in Queen Elizabeth National Park & Kibale Forest National Park is a perfect short holiday that offers you the possibility of exploring the magical common chimpanzees in detail. The Safari features the Queen Elizabeth National Park 1978km2 protected area with chimpanzee species thriving below sea level in 100m deep Kyambura gorge commonly referred to as the Valley of Apes. The Park also is a rich habitat for the big four of land animals including leopards, elephants, Buffaloes and elephants, the impressive Kazinga Channel which adjoins two lakes George and Edward supporting aquatics like the Nile Crocodiles and Hippos and over 600 species of birds. The extension to the famous Kibale National Park 795Sq.km known as the Primate Capital of the world with 13 Primate Species which include Common Chimpanzees, the 351 tree species some of which are 200 years old and over 55m tall, 375 species of birds and 70 mammal species present remarkable Uganda safari memories.

The 3 Days Uganda Safari commences in the morning at 6:30am from your place of stay in Kampala after breakfast with the safari guide picking you up to head to Queen Elizabeth National Park 417km about 7 hours’ drive in the south west of Uganda. Drive from Kampala towards the west and have a stop at the Equator for handicrafts and amazing photos plus demonstrations that justify the geographical separation between the north and the southern hemisphere. After this continue with your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park fronted by the magnificent Rwenzori Mountain range for much of your journey. Once in Queen Elizabeth National Park a game drive in the park is highly rewarding for you will view a range of wild animals including Leopards, the gigantic Elephants, Hogs, Lions, Buffaloes, Duikers, Hyenas, and many antelope species. Connect to your lodge for check in and lunch after which you will connect to the Mweya jetty for an afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga channel departing at 3pm. You will have an evening 2-hour boat cruise running along the Kazinga channel that stretches from Lake George to Lake Edward covering 45km distance. This cruise offers you an opportunity to see at close range the highest concentration of water submerged Hippos, surrounded by over 550 species of migrant and resident birds plus crocodiles drinking and resting at water edges. The cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. You retreat from the boat cruise and do an evening game drive along the Channel track to explore wild game in their evening moments. Continue to the lodge for overnight

After breakfast, embark on the chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura gorge where you slope down a gorge of 100m deep with sights of magical lush mature tropical forest thriving below sea level supporting counts of chimpanzees. Hiking the gorge’s steep slopes in search of chimpanzee is a challenging task that the whole encounter to go beyond the chimps. The eventual encounter with the chimpanzees as they munch fruits, make pant hooting calls, socialize, patrol, copulate and roll themselves in tree branches derive an exciting memory that will last for a life time.  Retreat from the encounter which tend to take 2 – 5 hours and then embark on the transfer to Kibale Forest National Park 157km about 3 hours’ drive enjoying the views of Rwenzori Mountains en route.

Day 3 of the 3 Days Uganda Safari and Primates Trekking in Queen Elizabeth National Park & Kibale Forest National Park: Do Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park and transfer to Kampala

Gather at Kanyanchu Tourism Center in Kibale National Park to catch up with Chimpanzee trekking which begins at 8am. The encounter commences with a briefing from the respective park rangers who will be your guides through the activity detailing the conduct of the exercise. After this, you head to the forest in search of the man’s closest relative. The dense forests of Kibale comprise of lush flora with mature trees marked with huge buttress and climbers, impressive bird species including the African Pitta, Afep Pigeon, Green-breasted Pitta, White-naped Pigeon, Red-chested Owlet, Crowned Eagle, Black Bee-eater, Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird, Western Nicator, Little Greenbul, Blue-breasted Kingfisher, Brown-chested Alethe, African Grey Parrot, Brown Illadopsis, Scaly-breasted Illadopsis, Black-capped Apalis, Collared Apalis, Blue-headed Sunbird, Dusky Crimsonwing, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Purple-breasted Sunbird, Yellow Spotted Nicator, Black-eared Ground Thrush Little Green Bul and Abyssinian Ground-thrush among others. Apart from chimps, Kibale also supports other 12 Primate Species including the threatened red colobus with the highest population thriving in Kibale, the rare I’Hoest’s monkey, black-and-white colobus, grey-cheeked mangabey, red-tailed and blue monkeys, bush baby, olive baboon and potto which may be viewed  during the trek. Finally you approach the common chimpanzees which have been fully habituated and thus offering you an opportunity to draw closer to them and take pictures. Viewing them as they munch fruit, swinging in trees, socializing, patrolling, mating and making pant hooting calls may lure you into unforgettable excitement. You have hour availed to you to encounter these precious apes and you are free to take as many photos as you can. Retreat from the activity which tend to last 2 – 5 hours and get back to the starting point where you will rejoin your company safari guide to embark on 326km journey driving for 6 – 7 hours arriving in Kampala in the evening to mark the end of the tour.
