Spend More to Earn More from Tourism in Uganda- Uganda Safaris & Tours

lionghjgdhBasing on the safaris carried out in Uganda, the World Bank released a report in Kampala showing Uganda’s tourism sector and potential giving pointers and the way forward for attracting more visitors to come for tour visits to Uganda.

The tourism sector earns Uganda a lot of money totaling to about $ 1 billion (Ush 2.7 trillion) and this shows that the number of visitors who safari Uganda have continued to increase.

Tourism spending amounted to 38% of exports and generated 5.6% of 2012 GDP, making it the biggest source of national income for the country, according to the ‘Economic and Statistical Analysis of Tourism in Uganda‘. This increase in the GDP has greatly attracted many tourists to come to Uganda in order to come for safaris with in Uganda.

The study was conducted by the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities in partnership with the World Bank and DFID.The data was collected from tourists who came to Uganda for safaris, Gorilla trekking and chimp tracking. The information was about on how much they spent, how long they stayed, where they went and how satisfied they were as well as the suggestions for improving tourism.

The Survey also came to discover that tourists were for the most partly satisfied with the gorilla trips to Uganda, however, respondents identified transport within Uganda and insufficient visitor information as well as the quality of customer service as the main areas for improvement. Gorilla trekking trips will improve if such challenges are over came.
