The tourism lecturers have not been teaching their students at Makerere University which was a blocking element for the students to acquire knowledge so as to put tourism sector to a higher level and therefore promote more safari visits to Uganda. This was because the lecturers claim they are not paid.
This made the students so annoyed and angry that they had to strike to fight for the improvement in tourism so as to promote more Uganda visits. These students on Friday had to move around the university with sticks and leaves while wearing their gowns so as to show their grievances to the staff. The situation was after calmed by the Makerere police so as to avoid destruction of properties.
The guild president ensured them that the lecturers will attend to the students on Monday. The university vice councillor told the students that the lecturers were paid and assured them that he will be talking to the part time lecturers so that they will be teaching the students so as to have more future tour operators hence increasing the number of safari tours to Uganda.
