World Bank released shs24.5 billion for Tourism - Uganda safari news

Tourism is one of the greatest contributors to Uganda’s economy. Tourism contributes 25% to Uganda’s GDP. On boosting tourism in Uganda, the number of tourists who come for Uganda safaris/safaris to Uganda/Uganda safari tours/Uganda tours will greatly increase. The money got from the world bank will be used to improve and refurbish the Uganda tourism and training institute.

Tourism minister talks about the government loan for tourism.

While officiating the graduation ceremony at UHTTI in Jinja, the minister for tourism prof. Ephraim Kamuntu explained how the government is going to use the money.

Over 364 students graduated in certificates and diplomas in hotel management and birding.

The minister annunciated that the money gotten will be used to re-develop the UHTTI and the Crested Crane hotel to modernized facilities. The government renovate and re-develop the hotel to a three-star hotel. It will contain modernized training kitchens, training restaurants, training language laboratories and uplifted bedrooms.

The minister also noted that tourism is one of the biggest foreign exchange earners in Uganda. It also brings in more money than the agricultural sector.

In 1994, the government of Uganda designated the UHTTI to help train people in the sectors of hotel management and tourism.

Miriam Namutosi Amori, principle of Uganda hotel and tourism training institute said that the institutions curriculum is going to be reviewed. And it will be put on an international rating. She mentioned that procurement of the project is done and evaluation of companies that are going to run the project is ongoing.

The UHTTI trains multitudes of persons who are employed in different tourism sectors. Such as hotels, tourism sites, tour operators, tour companies and many tourism institutions.
