Domestic tourism is an act where residents of one country travel with in the same country. Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) exhibited its new flashy and sparkly machines. UWA unveiled the brand new 5 tourist buses including 3 boats which were worth $800,000(Ushs2.9b). This project was funded by the Competitive & Enterprise Development Project of the world bank. Tourists going for Uganda safaris using this service will enjoy a series of facilities embedded in the buses. Facilities like free internet or WIFI, comfortable leather seats and enough legroom, communication system that aids the bus coordinators communicate with the tourists, entertainment system and a high-tech interpretation system for the tourists.

The aim of this project is to promote domestic tourism with in areas of Lake Mburo National Park, Kidepo Valley National Park and Murchison Falls National Park. The buses can be used for any other tourism activity but at a fee.

According to the public relations officer UWA, these buses are to bridge a gap concerning the transport aspect. For a scenario where private operators may not be able to avail a service to clients who might come in big numbers.

If you ever get opportunities to have Uganda safari tours, you could visit any one of the 10 NP’s, 12 wildlife reserves, 13 wildlife sanctuaries and 5 community wildlife areas.

Most game parks are located outside the city. For example, Kidepo NP is found in the Semi-arid Karamoja region. Murchison falls national park found in the Albertine rift valley in northwestern Uganda. For Queen Elizabeth is found in the south west of Uganda. Bwindi impenetrable forest national park which is known for gorilla trekking in Uganda is on the edge of the rift valley in southwestern Uganda.

Accessing these areas by tourists is made easy through support of different tourism players. For example, Uganda safari tour companies who do rent capable vehicles. Some of these companies do have their own service vehicles.

It is very important for these companies to have very comfortable and efficient vehicles that can easily move in rough places and tough areas. Examples of vehicles used four-wheel cars, Landcruiser’s, stretchers, super custom Toyota and among others.

Besides that, the government is encouraged to help in improving the road network facilities so as to ease the movement especially for the elderly tourists. This also helps them move comfortably to avoid bad reputation.
